Problems with Sapphire 7970 Dual-X OC Edition - A warning to owners and a request for advice - Page 4

That's odd, I never hear it... I unboxed my card, flipped the bios switch to 2, and started overclocking. No crazy noise under heaven, furmark/kombustor, or gaming.

If you look at my profile pic(its bottom right blue zip ties) carefully you can see my "fix", I did this before the problem ever occurred because I could see the sag. Essentially I made a daisy chain of zip ties around the entire end of the card and zip tied that onto part of my case. Ghetto, but works and no noticeable difference in noise or temps.

I also did the same thing. The holes in the end of the board are perfect for this.

I did, I'll take a picture when I get home. So it pulls on the cooler and the PCB itself.

Getting a back plate would not have fixed my problems at all, it got so bad at the end that the card would not work even when held perfectly still and horizontally. I am glad you found a fix smile.gif, but if a card doesn't work properly out of the box then to me its faulty. Just depends whether you can be bothered getting an RMA or not.

PC RESTARTING WITH SAPPHIRE 7970 DUAL X frown.gif

My system is running totally fine until i play any game. It restarts without any error or any blue screen. It happens everytime I run Battlefield 3 and Assassin's creed or any game. for insatnce when i run battlefield 3 , it connects with the server and map is loading but as the gameplay starts the pc restarts without any blue screen. tried with assassin's creed. assassin's creed is loading , movie is running , story video is running but as the gameplay starts pc RESTARTS. Yes i have googled alot with no luck for my problem.

My system
Intel 3770k
Gigabyte z77 d3h
sapphire radeon 7970 dual x
tried catalyst 12.11 , 12.4 , 12.3, 12.11 beta
huntkey 600W PSU
8gb kingston 1660 memory
win 7 64bit

things that i have tried
1) did a fresh install of windows twice but again no luck
2) removed all the catalyst drivers and installed just the display drivers but still the same.

Please please help me , this thing is driving me crazy.
