Getting rid of Blackberry on Verizon, switching with Android i already own works?

Thread Starter
Hi guys so basically i own a blackberry with verizon for when im in the US. I also own an HTC incredible S that is CDMA compatible that i use when im back home in india. I want to get rid of the blackberry and use the same HTC phone on verizons network in the US. Do i need to do anything like contact verizon or activate something? Or should the switch be smooth?

I noticed on their site there is a switch device route that i think i have to employ which entails entering the device ID of the phone i want to switch to. Can it be any phone in the world that supports CDMA or does it have to be a phone that verizon supports?

TIA
Bernard

Verizon only allows you to you Verizon phones. If your HTC phone isn't a Verizon phone, it won't work.
There are ways to bypass this by "jail breaking" the phone, but you'll have to figure out how to do that yourself.

the phone is an unlocked international phone, so even if this is the case , it still won't work?

verizon and sprint have a database of "clean" esn's for phones they allow on their network. You'd have to call them and talk to them about using an unlocked phone. But most likely the answer you will get is "no"

You could try swapping sim cards, but I would just call them.

CDMA phones don't rely on sim cards for service. If they even have a sim card slot it's only used for "international roaming" generally speaking. Most CDMA phones will not have sim card slots.
