9600gt and 7600gt show sort of phosphorous colouring after 10 mins??

Not been here for ages so forgive my rudeness!

both of these cards eventually start showing this weird display after sometime...9600 goes so i swap it for the 7600 and then that goes..thinking its a heat issue but I'm leaving the side of the pc and its all relatively cool...for both of these cards to be going seems odd?

could it possibly be the pci-e slot? aint got onboard graphics have switched pc's for 1 with onboard and monitor fine.

any insight would be appreciated

It's happening with both cards? Do you have another monitor, or maybe a different cable?

It sounds more like its a problem with the monitor or the cable. It would be best for you to try them on a different cable first and then, if you can another monitor. It definitely doesn't sound like an issue with the cards if it's happening on both of them!

I have put the 7600 in another pc and it appears fine at mo?..so its the pc causing the problem? maybe i need to do a fresh OS install could be some conflicting stuff going on..but if its the pc itself?

i'll second the thought that its the monitor cable/monitor problem. I would try a different monitor and cable before condemning the cards or PC.

nope its defo not cable or monitor as i am using both of them now and they are fine...but as said iv put the 7600 in this pc and its working without problem, so that points to the other pc being at fault some how ... i experience fault with both cards on that pc?

as mentioned after 10 minutes both cards start showing very bad discolouration which just deteriates until un-usable on first pc?

hmmm - it could possibly be a motherboard issue then. maybe power issue? I think a power issue would have more obvious faults though. I'm thinking a bad slot on the board, or a problem with the NB. Do you have another slot to try on that machine? Maybe try resetting the bios too?

will give the resetting ago and have a look into NB

it really does sound like a cable/monitor issue. The only way to find out, is test with another cable, and monitor, till you eliminate the faulty part. I had it happen with my 24" DGM that I got cheap from ebay. The problem? Inside the monitor, the connection to the LCD panel was loose, partially out. Pushed back into place, spot of hot glue to hold it at each side, and its been brilliant since. (Thats no counting the laptop webcam mod I fitted to it) smile.gif

PS - not being funny, but have you checked the monitor connectors for bent pins? Its easy to forget the simple things sometimes. smile.gif
