PSU: SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050 1050W $199.99
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 $87.99
Total: $2512.89

I'd change out the HAF-932 for a Storm Trooper also @ $149:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119245&Tpk=cm%20storm%20trooper

I have this case and it would work well for the build you're putting together. Also has a lovely rubber handle should you wish to move the rig around to LAN parties.

As for the G.Skill Ripjaws X, which I've got in my rig, it's good affordable RAM. From what I gather >1600Mhz doesn't result in huge performance gains especially for the price. It is red though, so not sure what theme you're going for.

Also recommend the Seagate Barracuda, 2TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148834

The Corsair H100 is also a great liquid cooler and will fit in the NZXT Switch 810 or Storm Trooper with ease. My slightly OCd i7 3770k stays around 25C idle and never above 50C at load. Quickly coming down to 30 after a workout smile.gif.

PSU: go Modular and 80 Plus Gold. Par example: the Coolermaster Silent Pro Hybrid 850W also @ $199
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171061

Lastly I'd also suggest researching the ASUS DirectCUII TOP ed as it is an extremely quiet card even under load.
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/27.html

And as you are going for the X79 you'll be able to space your second card (should you decide to SLI) as this is an open cooler design which blows hot air into the case. Temps on my card at load are around 65C with an overclock on the factory overclock, meaning I hit a stable 1336Mhz core clock and still stay well below 70C.

Either way it's looking to be a very respectable build! Hope some of this is of help to you. I did a lot of research and only recently built my rig (May 16). I decided the Ivy Bridge path as it's more a gaming rig (some video editing and music prod) and also the efficiency and lower power draw when idling plus native USB3.0, PCIe 3.0.

I have to agree with this. Although you wont see a huge difference between 1600/1866 ram. G.Skill is a great brand of RAM. Crucial M4's are amazing drives as I have one myself.

You can check out PC Power and Cooling Power Supplies. They also come with a 7 year warranty and are generally considered amazing PSU's.

EVGA has said that they are not making a backplate for the 670 ftw model(this came from an evga rep in one of the threads), so you will just have to buy a 680 backplate if you really would like one.

I think the H100 is gimmicky at best and you would be better off going air at first and then doing your own custom loop. If you check it out, the h100's temps are only a few degrees better than some of the air options. (If you wanna stay with NZXT check out the Havik series of Heatsinks/Fans. NZXT has an amazing customer service center that I highly recommend.)

Other than that, I like everything I see. Congratulations and good luck on your first build. thumb.gif

Switch the case from black to gunmetal(white won't ship to an apo address from newegg), went down to the 128GB crucial SSD, dropped a black caviar and grabbed a green on at 2TB, and added the corsair AX850. I didn't change the RAM as I couldn't find blue 1866mhz sticks. I figure I can upgrade later if I find any, and I keep a blue theme going. I think I am set except for an optical drive, and deciding on what type of colling to go with. I still haven't decided...2cents.gif?

I would get the NZXT Hale90 as for the PSU. It is $20 cheaper, comes highly recommended from JohnnyGuru (PSU expert website).

Once again, if you go with NZXT you will love their customer support. Also with NZXT PSU's you get the following feature: <3

Unless you are wanting to go blu-ray I would just throw in this optical drive :Lite On

why does everyone suggest the M4? im not a fanboi or such, but why not but ForceGT SSD's for nearly same price but faster speeds?

ForceGT read:555mb/s write:515mb/s
M4 read:500mb/s write:175mb/s

for reliability? m4 has a mtbf of 1.2m while FGT has 2m. i really dont get the point of the m4 being "bang for buck" especially if the FGT is just $5 more expensive.
