they drop it to ~$150-$200 and i will buy another one for sli. so will a bunch of people on here.

i'm willing to assume that the majority of PC gamers are on 1080p or bellow.

for all the talk of cards not having enough VRAM i haven't seen too many complaints about cards not being able to handle what's being thrown at them specifically because of a lack of VRAM. it's starting to get like CPU's bottlenecking graphics cards, it's largely theoretical and doesn't show up practically a whole lot.

Damn...if the GTX570 hit 150USD I'd be screwed because I'd buy it. And I was planning on holding out until the 660 came out. Is the 660 supposed to be better than the 570? I see the 670 and 680 are pretty solid but I'm just wondering.

Price em what they're worth, Nvidia! $200 and not a penny more, that's before any rebates. Well, someone's getting fired over this idiocy, could've had these priced at $250 no rebate in January and they perhaps could've kept sales momentum going after 7800 series release.

Remember.. the GTX 570 is about 7-10% faster than the 7850 at stock. Overclock them both, and the 7850 wins. Stock 7850 power consumption is around 88W average (while gaming), 570's is around 197W ( http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_7850_Power_Edition/26.html ). You can just about Crossfire 7850's with the same PSU you'd need to run a single 570. Double the performance/watt is pretty impressive. Now who would pay $225 for a 570 (space heater) in the summer when you can get a 7850 for $240?

nvidias pricing has been jacked up since the gen 3 cards have started coming out.

lets see... acording to newegg.

you can get a 670 for $400 or a 680 for $500. but, $430 for a 1.5 gb 580 and $500 for a 3gb 580....(cheapest evga cards available)

HOW FREAKIN RETARDED IS THAT?!?!

the 580($430-490) 6970($330) 570$(270-330) 6950($250) and 560 ti($230-270) are all overpriced when you put them next to the 7800 cards.

$320 for a 7870 that is on par with a 580
or $240-260 for a 7850 thats on par with a 570 or 6970

it dosnt make sense. its not just nvidia, its the whole gpu market

While the performance between the two should be similar, there’s a chance that a mature GTX570 with decent cooling solution, can overclock WAY past the GTX660, causing a problem for nVidia’s PR team.

This pretty much confirms (if from nvidia) my speculation that the gtx660 would fall in between the 7850 and 7870 in performance (similar to 6850, 560, 6870) with the gtx660ti being above the 7870 and competing with the 7950 (560ti, 6950). I'm calling 960 cores on the gtx660 and 1152 on the gtx660ti.

1.25GB of VRAM is plenty for 1080, 1200, and 1440 even with heavy AA. The only time you need more is multiple monitors.

Agree, GPUs are overpriced.

I am still looking for an affordable and efficient (1920*1200 monitor) graphic card to replace my GTX260+.

I was wondering about a 560Ti, but i need a stronger improve in performance ratio (relative to my GTX260+).

So... where are the good cards in the 150-200 euros range ?
