In everything but battlefield 3 it works perfectly fine. With fxaa on 1080 @ ultra i get 1210 mb mem usage on my 570. Works perfectly fine but there is no way i could do more without stuttering from my memory filling up.

Well OBVIOUSLY if the prices drop they will sell faster, which is the same for anything, but at least that confirms the GTX 660 should perform like the 570, and hopefully the Ti version will be more like a 580.

i'm willing to assume that the majority of PC gamers are on 1080p or bellow.
for all the talk of cards not having enough VRAM i haven't seen too many complaints about cards not being able to handle what's being thrown at them specifically because of a lack of VRAM. it's starting to get like CPU's bottlenecking graphics cards, it's largely theoretical and doesn't show up practically a whole lot.

Yup, well said. CPU bottleneck isn't such a big deal as people like to say. I get very similar framerates in games from benchmarks with an i7, DDR3 and the same GPU, with a 4 year old processor with a poorer architecture and lower Clock Speed than a 2500k, AND MSI Afterburner shows my GPU load at 99% a lot of times (never 100% though) so people need to cool it with this "CPU Bottleneck" crap. More than 1.2GB VRAM is only necessary for extremely high resolutions or multiple monitors.

As others mentioned earlier battlefield does just use up what ever Vram you give it and doesn't always preform better with more. 1.25GBs is good for 1080p even in BF3.... The only catch is when you start heavily modding games. Use enough custom texture packs in Skyrim and then you could use some more vram.

This thread had my hopes up... I miss read the title and thought it said they had an over stock of 670s. biggrin.gif

That's the only real bummer about the 570GTX is the lack of VRAM other then that they are great cards. I missed the 2.5GB models by 4 months. I upgraded form a 8800GTS G92 about a year ago to my 570 and have loved it every since. It is just those couple games that I play that i can feel the VRAM bottleneck filling up. The 570 is still a great upgrade for people that are running much older cards.

I really don't like the current pricing on the new generation of cards and basically holding out till the GK110.

I disagree if i put 2msaa it bounces off of the max amount of ram and results in visible stuttering, while it does not affect the average fps much you you can see it drops from 60 fps down to 30ish and right back up still playable but far from smooth.

I disagree, 1.25GB of vram is not enough any more. It is close to obsolete.

If they lower the price too much, no one will buy the 660, but if they keep them at current prices, everyone will still hold out for the 660... lose-lose.

they should just lower 570 to 200 to get rid of them and make small amounts of 660s, that's the pretty simple solution. Its hard for business to swallow the truth though it seems

Not true that BF3 uses up as much VRAM as you have. I've run it on 480SLI, 580SLI3gb and a 670 and it maxxes out around 1.4-1.7 with everything enabled including MSAA. Had the same results across all three set ups.
