Hi,
I recently bought a brand new workstation, to be used primarily for product rendering (KeyShot).
It has the following core components:
I had the 3930k overclocked to 4.3 GHz by the shop that built it. It was done through XMP by simply setting the multiplier to 43 (nothing else changed).
This gave great results in KeyShot, but I noticed vcore was hiting 1.42V under load and temps easily rose to 75°C.
So I decided to attempt a (safe) overclock on my own.
Summary of my BIOS settings:
The following screens show what I ended up with in detail.

These settings give me the same performance in KeyShot, but with a max temp of 65°C. This is a great improvement already in my book.
I haven't run any stability stress tests (prime95...).
I'm by no means an OC expert so I'm calling out on you guys for great advice to improve my OC.
My goals:
My concerns with my current OC:
I hope you guys can help me out.
greetings,
Dries

I recently bought a brand new workstation, to be used primarily for product rendering (KeyShot).
It has the following core components:
- Asus P9X79 DELUXE
- Intel 3930k
- Corsair H100 cooler
- 2 x Patriot Viper Xtreme Series, Division Viper 2 Edition DDR3 8GB 2133MHz PXD38G2133C11K (11-11-11-30, 1.65V)
- Corsair AX750 PSU
I had the 3930k overclocked to 4.3 GHz by the shop that built it. It was done through XMP by simply setting the multiplier to 43 (nothing else changed).
This gave great results in KeyShot, but I noticed vcore was hiting 1.42V under load and temps easily rose to 75°C.
So I decided to attempt a (safe) overclock on my own.
Summary of my BIOS settings:
- AI Overclock Tuner = manual
- BCLK = 100
- multiplier = 43
- Memory = DDR3-2133
- CPU VCORE = manual @ 1.25V
- DRAM Voltage = 1.65V
- DRAM Timings = primary @ 11-11-11-30-3
The following screens show what I ended up with in detail.

These settings give me the same performance in KeyShot, but with a max temp of 65°C. This is a great improvement already in my book.
I haven't run any stability stress tests (prime95...).
I'm by no means an OC expert so I'm calling out on you guys for great advice to improve my OC.
My goals:
- An OC in the range 4.3 - 4.5 GHz
- CPU temps in the range 60°C - 70°C under full load
- Lowest possible VCORE (what else?
...)
My concerns with my current OC:
- VCORE is fixed now @ 1.25V. Does this degrade CPU over time? Can it be set to be dynamic with a max. of 1.25V?
- Am i missing some crucial votage settings? Should I have set certain voltages to a specific value (to start off with) where I now have 'auto'?
I hope you guys can help me out.
greetings,
Dries

: That's gotta be slow..see if the RAM will do 2 or 1

!
. I have one of the better ones seeing the charts on the SB-E Overclock thread as far as low voltage goes. I only need 1.375v Vcore for 4.8ghz. I use 6 dimm slots for 12gigs of ram.
