Talk me out of this!!! ASUS P8Z77-V Premium

I have the fever to purchase this ASUS Board

http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8Z77V_PREMIUM/

The thing is that I really have no need for thunderbolt, 4 way gpu, and probably a couple of other things, at the moment. I feel like it would be pretty future proof though, and I may end up wanting the gpu expand ability soon enough. I know that I will get into thunderbolt, and I really love the onboard mSATA for the sad caching

I am skipping ivy bridge based on what i have read, and I feel like there will be at least one more upgrade in this socket, so that helps.

I have a SABERTOOTH P67 right now, and although it overclocks very well, I want a board that may overclock somewhat better. This one looks like it is it.

I am open to suggestions though, and if there are similar boards that are not quite so up scale, then I would love the chance to check them out. However there seem to be some really great features with this board. Such as The wifi go and remote desktop for our ipads. I am not sure what the dual intel LAN feature would do to benefit me, but asus seems high on it in their demo videos. If I was to check into another board It would need similar features

I've watched This video like 5 times now. I want this board so bad.

JayJay is about the best source of info you'll find on this board. I hope this helps

If you have the money to spend then get it, that's how I operate when I know I have the money on hand and no bills to pay.

I operate that way too, but I have the time to research it (for once), and since folks are usually so opinionated I figured this would help me learn of some other options

Socket 1155 is reaching its EOL. Intel's Haswel is going to be moving to socket 1150.

U won't get another generation out of this socket. We have already seen intel slides showing the next chip has a new socket, just a heads up,
If I where u I would tuck the money away and wait for the next gen, or grab another 7870 for some crossfire fun, going to be a way better performance jump than this new board

Maybe, but I have no proof that it will not get some sort of upgrade past ivy. Also, the latest intel has not supplanted my Sandy, so the next is not guaranteed to either. Lastly I don't know how long until Haswell, but since this is just upgrading my current rig, then I'll probably be ready for a new build by then anyway

Well, I doubt that, since I'm not looking for graphics upgrade with this. More for the Speed of peripherals and the SSD caching. I have a large amount of storage that I hate since I upgraded my system drive to a SSD. This would help that disgusted feeling I have when I have to use a mechanical HDD now. Lol!

Oh, and even if I do not get another gen from 1155, I THINK I am ok with it

Caching only benefits if you have a ton of files that are frequently used on the drive. Doesn't Z68 feature caching too? If you absolutely have to have caching, then why not just save money and get a P8Z68 Deluxe? There will be no more cpus on socket 1155. Might see a revised Ivy if we're lucky but that's it.
