Anyways, I am now trying to decide between the Sapphire 7950 Flex Edition and the Sapphire 7950 950Mhz Edition. I don't really care about one of my side monitors tearing too much so I think i'm going to go with the cheaper, more powerful 950Mhz Edition. I am from Canada so the best I could do was $430 after shipping/taxes. I can get the regular Sapphire 7950 OC for $410 but it has the regular PCB and I don't think it will overclock as well.
Once I fully decide and pull the trigger I will be sure to post how everything turned out! thumb.gif
Thanks for everyone's help and input! biggrin.gif

If you go for the sapphire HD 7950 950 Mhz edition you need to get an active mini DP to DVI (Dual link) adapter . get DVI dual link because it supports resolution upto 2560 x 1600 which might come in handy in future. There is a HDMI to DVI adapter which comes with the retail box. So use the following ports to connect to three DVI connections in your monitors. 1 DVI (dual link) , 1 HDMI with HDMI - DVI adapter,1 mini DP with active mini DP to DVI (dual link)

Also here is the list of AMD validated eyefinity adapters

Haha rolleyes.gif. I appreciate you trying to help Ankit but earlier in the thread I said I wanted to overclock to maximum capabilities. That cooler just won't cut it for what i'm wanting to achieve for overclocks.

Anyways, I ended up ordering a Sapphire 7950 OC 950Mhz Edition. Here it is ---> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102991

I just couldn't resist the black 7970 PCB to match my rig much better than blue, as well as the probable increase in overclocks over the regular pcb version. When I receive it I will do some overclocks and post how things turn out biggrin.gif.

Thanks again everyone!

Now i've looked around and done my research for hours now. I know this is probably a lot of peoples problem, but I can't seem to decide whether to get a GTX 670 or a Radeon 7950 for 5760x1080. Price wise they are $30 difference and the 670 being more at $440. So....reading upon reading I still can't seem to really get a solid answer on VRAM usage for intense games like Crysis 2 and BF3. Some people and reviews say that the 2GB on the 670/680 isn't an issue at 5760x1080 and that it's super smooth and high fps. Another person/review says that they are limited and that the Radeon 7950/70 is the way to go with 3GB.
I want to know if anyone has first hand experience with the two different cards in surround/eyefinity applications with BF3, Crysis, etc. The thing that confuses me the most is how the gameplay experience can be the same on both cards in 5760x1080 and the 7950/70 has more memory bandwidth and vram?? Some people claim that the 670/80 is much smoother.....rolleyes.gif
I need someone who has full experience and can give me some honest truthful answers!
If the 670 is actually "so much better" as all the fanboys say, and at least 3gb is the way to go, then I may try and get an EVGA 670 4GB SC for $520. ($100 more than the 2GB version).
Advice, options and information would all be greatly appreciated! smile.gif

Don't have experience in your resolution.

My opinion EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB better performance and the extra VRAM but at the extra price of about $80-$100 like you said.

At your 5760x1080 why quibble about pricing at this point? IF you can obtain the EVGA GTX 670 SC 4GB in Canada then go for it. SLI when you feel the performance need down the road and the 4GB will have greater gaming longevity. smile.gif

On the flip side your still not going to be dissapointed one bit with a pair of AMD 7950's. Great cards. Some crossfire issues but should be ironed out by the time your ready for a second card. Your still going to be happy. smile.gif

I passed this thread to another OCN member that I know has your res. Good luck and please do post back when the trigger is pulled. smile.gif

My single 7970 does very well at 6048x1200 so I am pretty sure that a 7950 is just what you are looking for considering you are losing a few pixels in resolution.

Well I received the card in the mail a few days ago. I put it in and of course the first thing I started to do was overclock it! biggrin.gif. After about 10 mins I was very confused and frustrated. The card was running amazingly hot and I couldn't get anything stable over 1100mhz core and 1550mem. So....long story short. I ended up taking off my window in the side panel and puting my mesh panel. I removed my 2 120mm fans from the top exhaust and put them on the side panel as intakes, and put my 200mm corsair fan that was in the closet back on the top as exhaust.

Before putting the side fans in, my card was running 1100core, 1450mem and 82 degrees at 50% fan speed. After putting the side fans in, the card was running 1100core, 1450mem and 64 degrees at 50% fan speed! I would have never guessed it would make that big of a difference. rolleyes.gif.

So, now i'm running my card at 1160mhz core @ 1.087v and 1640mhz mem at stock volts. Running Furmark or BF3 on high settings in eyefinity I never go over 72 degrees at 85% fan speed. I tried overclocking to 1200core and 1700mem and it's stable but I need 1.15v on the core and it shoots the temps up 10 degrees. So i'm staying at 1160 and 1640. All in all a great overclock at 45% core and 31% on the memory. I run a 3dmark11 score of 9300P and BF3 runs MUCH better. I am way more satisfied with this card over my CF 6950 setup previous.

Thanks to everyone who helped! thumb.gif

Can you post a picture of the side of your cabinet. Also I want to know your performance in BF3 at 5760 x 1080 Ultra settings without MSAA and with MSAA 2X. Can you just run a level like operation swordbreaker and give us rough avg and min fps. Hope you can do this . enjoy your purchase.
