My First (Personal) Build [i5-3570K @ 4.8GHz]

Hello!
I'm glad to finally be posting my build.
It's nothing extreme, but she gets the job done.

To start, her name. I call her Bozi meaning "divine" in Czech. Why Czech? No reason, just thought it sounded cool.

Anyway, here's the current component list:
Case: Velocity Micro LX Black (Picture)
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V/Gen3
CPU: i5-3570K @ 4.8GHz; Max: 85*C; 1.240 V-Core
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 13
RAM: G.Skill RipJaw X Series 1600MHz 2x4GB (8GB Total)
Disk 1: Intel 320 Series 80GB SSD (Boot)
Disk 2: Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB (Data)
Optical 1: LG BluRay Burner
Optical 2: Samsung DVD Burner
PSU: Antec 750W Modular 80+ Gold
Video: Overclocked Integrated HD 4000

My case differs from the picture in a few ways.
First, I don't have a wheel kit on mine. Two, I don't have the internal lights, my PC is running 24/7 in my bedroom and I can't sleep with any light on.
The case comes with 120mm fans in the front and back for intake and exhaust, respectively. I replaced those with Scythes (1900RPM, 36db)

Even on integrated video, I play GTA IV and Batman Arkham City on High (Not Ultra, but still...) and my FPS stays in the low 20s.

Future Mods:
I will be adding a video card soon, hopefully an EVGA GTX 670.
I will be adding another set of the RAM I have for a total of 16GB.
I will be swapping the SSD out for a set of either Intel 520 Series 120GB drives, or Samsung 830 Series 128GB drives. Whichever I go with, they will be in RAID 1.
I will be swapping the 2TB out for 4x 1TB Caviar Black drives in RAID 10.
I currently have a Sunbeam PL-RS-3 fan controller on the way, as well as a set of Corsair SP120 fans (2350RPM, 35db). I will be cutting holes in my side panel to add them for added intake to keep the CPU cooler.

The front and rear fans will be plugged into a y-splitter and controlled as one channel on the fan controller, the side fans will also be on a splitter. This leaves one more channel that I plan to use for a future top-mounted exhaust fan. I don't like hearing my fans go from low RPM to high RPM while gaming or at night, nor do I like them to be at 100% all the time. The controller will give me full control over that.

Anyway, enough talking.
I'll have some pics up for you guys some time this week.

Nice build. You lucked out with that chip. 4.8Ghz at only 1.240v is awesome. smile.gif Good choices with SSD drives. They will surely speed things up. Good luck. thumb.gif

Alright, pics.

First off, my pre-3570K pics.

700
397
700

Since these photos, I've:
- Cleaned up all the wiring
- Installed the 3570K and Freezer 13 cooler
- Overclocked to 4.8GHz

Here's a screenie of Prime95, CPU-Z, and HW Mon.
338
I realize that's only been running for like 5 minutes at the time of that screenshot. After 12+ hours, the voltage stayed the same, it never throttled, but it got up to 82*C.

I'll take updated pics when I get a chance, I'm not near my PC at the moment. (Typing this on my laptop)

And here's the latest update:

338

Got the fan mounting holes lined up. The fan holes themselves are not cut yet, nor do I have the fans that will call that panel "home."
The fans should be here tomorrow or Wednesday, and I should be able to cut the holes on Thursday.
The only person I could find with a 120mm hole saw was work, and it's kinda busy there...

4.8 at 1.240? You have a god chip. I oc'd my buddies 3570k and I only got 4.5 @ 1.350!

Any tips btw? His was good at 4.2 @ 1.220 but the second I pushed it past 4.2 it was failing left and right.

Edit: Solid build! Keep the pics coming!

Turns out it was actually a 1.248, but that's not much of a difference. tongue.gif

Thanks! Will do, as they happen.

Either 105*C or 115*C, I can't remember.

It's 105C before it shuts itself off...I wouldn't ever pass 90C on stress testing. 85C max if you wanna be a little safe.

If memory serves me correctly, it's 105 for SB, and 115 for IB.

We have an overclocked testing machine at work that runs at 105*C, it hasn't shut itself off. It's a 3770K @ 4.9GHz, not sure why it gets that hot, honestly. It's liquid cooled with 3x 2k RPM fans (1 intake and 2 on the radiator)

ah yes, perhaps you are correct.

EDIT: Actually...wait...my idle temp right now is 30C and RealTemp is telling me distance to TJ Max is 75C....so doesn't that mean max temp allowed is 105C?
