Performance drops to the lowest common denominator so in this case, the Plextors on the SATA 3 ports would be operating at SATA 2 basically halving performance. I wouldn't be surprised if the Plextors could reach 1000MB/s sequential read by themselves. I reckon it still helps with sequential writes, though.

that's the point I was making.. I know my plextors will do a little better then 1K across the board the 2 added drives give basically 103 to the score, During Computex this last week Plextor had 8 In raid and was only able to reach 3K reads and 4K was plentiful to say the least with that of a single drive

AMD uses Marvell SATA onboard controllers and needs all the help they can get as they are slower to begin with. Ive not tested AMD so I cant say, But I do know some of the new Intel Chipsets will have
6-SATA III ports and as many as 14 total SATA slots as seen on the X79S boards

Again... what's the point?

Are you doing 1GB+ transfer to memory?
Do you have another storage array capable of 1GB/s and transfer files often?
Once again...

SB950 supports 6 native sata3 ports..they have additional marvell controller(s) as well depends on mb model/brand..

Thread Starter
Ok so I have both drives now and I’ve updated them to the same firmware as the ones have in raid 0 and when I open the Intel raid controller bios i have the options of
1. Create raid volume
2. Delete raid volume
3. Reset disks to non-raid
4. Recovery volume options
5. Acceleration options (greyed out)
6. Exit

So how to I extend the raid so the others will be in it?
