Newbie Needs Help !

Hey again guys..this time i am here for graphics card
but the problem this time not which one to choose its how to install or is it possible to install on my mboard rolleyes.gif

Currently i have Palit Nvidia Geforce 9400gt which is a pretty basic graphic card,i bought it 3 years ago i there isnt a single game i couldnt run (Except metro 2033 - even on lowest it had horrendenus lag) and of course not on max !
I play every game in 800x600 medium to low graphics...but its a good card for a casual gamer BTW here is the pic and my query too

I am a complete noob in "ports" section of pc...although i am a hardcore or heavy gamer
I have this blue port which you guys call VGA port (Correct me if i am wrong)
and i am going to buy EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 285 whose pic is here

Now this graphic card has another port not the VGA one so how should i connect this to my motherboard or is it even possible ? BTW for tutorial i saw a "how to install graphic card" by an AMD guy but he talked nothing what i wanted to know ..so i am here ..i also acknowledged that i am gonna need some 6 or 8 pin kinda stuff for power...so please explain me in detail..thank you and sorry for such a long question

PS : if you have another suggestion for graphic card ,you're welcome coz i am getting 285 for 200$

There are all kinds of adapters to make one type of connector send a signal to a different type. (But the card connects to your MOTHERBOARD via PCIe, AGP, or PCI. It connects to your MONITOR via DVI, VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) Oh, and you are definitely gonna want to make sure your power supply has the correct 6-8 pin plugs to power the card or you will need to buy a new power supply as well. Well my HD6950 still does way more than I need it to do. If I were in the market though, I would be looking up benchmarks, prices, and reviews of how the cards within your budget perform in the games or programs that you plan to be using most. ^^

If you open your cabinet you will find the power supply screwed in the cabinet . the power supply will look as shown in the image below.

You have to first check what is the amps rating on the +12v rail. there will be a label at the side

you have to tell what is the amps given in that label for the +12v column. then only we can decide whether you can work with your old PSU or need a new PSU.

You need to change your PSU. Get a Corsair CX 500 V2 . it will cost Rs. 3000 - 3200.

For Rs. 12000 you can get Radeon HD 6870 or Geforce GTX 560. Go for whichever card you like. Both are similar in performance. Nvidia has an edge in DX11 tesselation performance which will put it ahead in BF3, Crysis 2. so take your pick thumb.gif
