$150 to spend

Thread Starter
Currently my sigrig is running as it is.
I wasn't originally planning on working this week since it's graduation week, I might work up to Wednesday or Thursday giving me an unexpected extra $150-$240 to spend.

If you look at my pictures, currently my 620 on my GPU is exhausting out of the sidepanel. It's still pretty stinking silent because I'm running Swiftech Helix's on both my D14 + Radiator with the NF12 on my exhaust (since I have no exit pull fan on my D14).
What could I spend with that money to either make it more silent / more fps / pimp it out?

I already have a TP67XE also... so a CPU upgrade is possible but my Phenom II @ 4.2ghz would seem to work quite well into the 1-2 years.

Any ideas? Perhaps a change of case? Or is the Fractal R3 already really nice? I was thinking some nice silverstone case... :O
My ambition is to do a Silverstone TJ08-E with a nice 3570k+mATX mobo. Only thing is that good mATX mobos are quite expensive frown.gif
post #2 of 14
IMO you have everything you need that you can get w/o a new mobo... save it and upgrade your cpu/mobo to whatever is out (IvyBridge/Piledriver) when you have the cash required.

If you download a lot, you could get a 2TB HDD for that price. Well, in any case, another M4 128GB wouldn't be misplaced if you really wanted to burn 150$ on your PC. smile.gif

Do you have a second monitor? If not, I would invest in that.

Thanks y'alls for the suggestions. Storage isn't a premium since I know have 448GB... not much at all but I've been eyeing TB drives since I can only keep 1 backup of everything on my external given the size of my drives. BUT the longer I wait, the lower the HDD prices go! HD103sj is @ $80 now =o

The monitor I just might do... That would mean I would be sucked into buying another monitor, a better gpu, swapping out the CPU... Let me calculate how many months of my "fun" budgeted money that would cost xD

If you do go for a monitor, PLEASE get an IPS panel, not another TN panel. The difference between an IPS and TN (what you have now) is like day and night. Don't even think of it as getting a second monitor, think of it as an upgrade (a big upgrade). Also aim for a 16:10 ratio (24") instead of the awful 16:9.

I like this idea! I can sell off this Acer 23" for like... what. $150? Downsize the cost?
Also, for FPS gaming, IPS panels, are there any recommendations for those that don't have a really bad response time?
