Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II Cooler for GTX670

So I decided to get just one, for right now, maybe SLI in abit.

I plan to get this cooler:

http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Cooling-Accelero-Turbo-Cooler/dp/B005FYCFG8

Slap it on a EVGA FTW Edition

What do I need, with it though?

I have thermal paste; I used such a thing in the past and I remember buying VRM's that I had to stick on, but didn't really stick, so I used thermal paste to stick them on, but who knows these days?

I'd appreciate an answer of what I need to install it. Thanks.

There's a thermal glue included,very good stuff,leaves nothing behind.
Everything is included in this set, heatsinks and glue and tim on the cooler itself.

Oh really?

That's good...

Back in the day, of my 8800 GT that is, I ordered one, and had to order Heatsinks and thermal tape and all that jazz.

But I was very happy.

My 8800 GT, previously, was 89-91c in games.

Post 50$ cooler, from Artic,

49c, 100% load. -without fans-

At first I thought, the thermal sensor must be borked. But I played around, using very stressful games, and test programs, and managed 60c, tops, after like an hour of Furmark. Yes, an hour. I loved them ever since then

I'm hoping to see likewise results with a 670. I hear they get 85c load - some are reporting 59c 100% OCCT load with this.

That is a nice improvement as well.

If you're hitting 85c load I'd recommend getting those aftermarkets. My 580's ran into trouble when temps hit past 72c while overclocked (reference cooler).

Yeah, one thing about the 6xx series is also, they throttle down at 70c, then 80c.

So, with a custom cooler, I can OC high, keep it under 70c easily, and experience no throttle.

The thermal glue should be fine, but it'll take time to mix and cure. I grabbed some 3m thermal tape from FrozenCPU and used that for my memory/VRM heatsinks.

I would not recommend the TT II if you intend to go SLI in the future, as it will be more difficult to manage and reduce the cooler's effectiveness.

ah, it probably won';t be arriving til an hour or two before I have to go to work. Overnight, but late delivery it seems. So most likely I'll take it out of the box and put the VRm's on with the glue and just let it sit there til I get home, then screw on the heatsink when I get home, will have plenty of time to properly dry.

I was hoping it'd arrive at like 10 AM today, but it wasn't even on the truck til 7:30 AM says the tracking website. Wanted to put the cooler on and bench it before I left, but alas...

Also, a question, I could use Thermal Paste as well?

I used it on my old 8800 GT cooler, I remember I had issues with it falling off, but if I stuck it on hard enough and let it sit for the night it worked, and it had excellent cooling. Though I read thermal glue is thermal paste with Epoxy, so same thing, eh?

As for the Heatsink itself; it comes with pre-applied thermal paste, I was wondering if it would be worth rubbing off and putting some Arctic Silver 5 or better thermal paste on it, or is the default already AS5 or something of the like?

Also, I see you have the same 670 I am getting, with the same cooler.

How are your load temps?

Thanks. Was wondering where to get some, what better place? thumb.gif

I haven't used them yet but I totally recommend them over the included glue... That stuff is messy.........

Well it arrived and I took off the default EVGA heatsink - what a pain ,that thing is on there tight, took me like 10 minutes. tongue.gif

Ah, now I wish there was an English video of someone installing this, because the included instructions are horrible.(Installing it on a 670 / 680(Same PCB for FTW edition)
