Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo II Cooler for GTX670 - Page 4

Thinking of getting one of these coolers (and thermal tape!) for a reference 670. Anyone seen any links for disassembling a reference 670 anywhere?

I saw a video of someone putting one of these on a reference 670; I can't remember where, but yes, it fits.

Be well worth it!.

Let me explain in a very simple story why this cooler rocks.

GTX470 - 80% fan speed, very loud, but could blend in during gaming and I could ignore it. Temps, would get up to 90c in Battlefield 3, or other intensive games that use 99% of my GPU.

GTX670 - Never tried it with stock, but most reviews put it @ around 85c, 99% usage or so. Loud when maxed, supposedly, as well, louder than my GTX470 according to Adanteche or whatever.

GTX670 /w this cooler - idles @ 24-27c. Cant hear it at all, no matter even if I max it out. During gaming? Battlefield 3...51-53c. That's @ 99% usage, in games like ArmAII OA - I get 55c.

I'm not even breaking the 60c barrier here, overclocked, and @ max usage for prolonged periods.

Cooler rocks!

Can't imagine why I'd spend double for the tri-fan version. These cards are rated to to to 90c, as most are, staying @ under 60c, while over-clocked, and inaudible...is awesome.

Thanks..i'm sure i'll work it out when the cooler arrives..bought some thermal pads as i don't trust that glue they include.
If anyone finds a Reference gtx 670 disassembly link or video i'd appreciate the info.

This makes it much easier to work with than thermal paste/grease. This is not recommended for those who are "overclocking."

This makes me want to stay away from thermal tape, but who knows?

Not according to most reviews I've seen.

You're either not hitting max GPU usage; in whatever games you play, or you got a blasting fan like crazy.

77 @ load, I was wrong, still, with a decent OC, you'd get into the 80's, and that's with a high, audible, fanspeed as well.

Also depends on what your ambient is. For all we know, your computer is propped right next to an air conditioner while most reviews are in a standard office space.

Edit: According to this http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2249721
Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to stiffen the PCB and prevent the bending other than that ghetto pci backplate sitting there?

I can vouch for this cooler as I had one installed on a PNY GTX 680 and have been using these types of coolers from Arctic cooling for many many years all the way back to the days of the ATI X850XT PE.

When it comes to air coolers NO ONE can touch anything that arctic has out and I have pretty much tried them all. My PNY GTX 680 was clocked to a stable boost speed of 1325mhz core and 7000mhz Mem, with these clocks my PNY GTX 680 combined with this cooler was reaching max load temps of just 62c after hours of long gaming sessions. Now with that said I kept the fan speed at 100% because it is nearly inaudible when maxed out!

My PC case has decent airflow too but is nothing dramatic compared to many others that are on the market, also these temps were achieved in a house with the AC set to 75F.

Other cards I have played around with aftermarket cooling..............
