Is my rig under performing, or do I just have bad WU's?

I have just started folding, I started these WU's a week or so ago but have only just started leaving my rig on full time since I got my 3930K stable. It's currently running at 4.2GHz. But, for running on a 3930K and a 7950 my PPD seems low, what do the experts think?

From what I have been told, if folding with an AMD card, you must leave a core for the GPU. Knock your SMP down to 10 threads and see what happens. I am going to guess it would be more worth while to stop GPU folding all together and leave your 3930K on 12.

That doesn't really explain the low scores on the SMP client, since it's loading up all 12 cores. The GPU is at an 80% load as well so I don't think anything is being particularly limited.

Yes, it does actually. Just stop folding all together on the AMD GPU. The points you get from folding on the AMD GPU probably don't compensate for what you could get by folding on the CPU only.

You get a lower SMP score because the graphics card is using your CPU to.
Delete the graphics slot and fold only on SMP an see the score rise rather quikly wink.gif

Well, I'm no longer folding on the GPU, though, CPU usage is only up 3% on the SMP core. I can't see it making much of a difference if any at all. Estimated PPD has dropped massively though.

EDIT: The GPU core is, or rather was, only using 3% of CPU according to task manager, so, as expected, the completion time for the SMP is still at 9 hours.

I don't know this for sure, but I believe you need to allow the WU to finish before you can change the number of threads?

I didn't change the thread number, just deleted the GPU slot.
