RAM Suggestions-E6400

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I'm building a new system.
Here is what I already have:
P5B DLX WIFI
E6400

Here's what I'm ordering:
HIS x1950pro

Now what I really need is some advice on memory.
I'm an experienced overclocker and I know there are no guarantees but I'm looking to get into the 3.2-3.4 MHz range with my Conroe.

The memory that I've been looking at is:
Mushkin XP PC2-5300 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-667 CL3-3-3-10
Team Xtreem PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-10
G.SKILL F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12

I have 0 experience with DDR2.

I know that 1:1 operation wouyld be optimal but I doubt that I could overclock to my goal with this RAM at 1:1

What kind of memory divider will I be looking at with these RAM sticks when (if) I get to 3.2-3.4?

Any help is greatly apreciated

G.SKILL F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12

That gets my vote.

You should easily be able to run 1:1 on the PCU with that RAM. Do realize that the E6400 has an FSB of 1066MHz (external frequency 266MHz, since it's quad pumped). Thus, the RAM speed that is 1:1 with the CPU is DDR2 533 speeds. To achieve 3.4GHz on the CPU, you'll need an external frequency of 425MHz (FSB = 1700MHz). Thus, the effective RAM speed will then be DDR2 850. Since those sticks can handle more than that (I've heard users running them at DDR2 1000 speeds), you should be just fine.

Chozart,
So what you are saying is that I stand at least a chance of getting the DDR800 to run 1:1 (overclocked) with the E6400 in the 3.2-3.4 range?
If that is so I will get the DDR800.
I should tell you I am leaning to getting the Team Xtreem:

Both the team group and the g.skill sticks use D9GMH chips, they will pretty much OC the same so go with the cheaper pair

Good call boredom

And yes, you have a really good chance to hit 3.4GHz with those sticks.
