The 7750 destroys the 640, but technically the 7750 and 640 being priced the same are competitors.

If i were to compare the 7970 to the gtx670, then I would def agree with that statement. If i were to compare the 7970 to the gtx680, not so much.

I think the GTX 670 has taken this crown for price/performance. The 7930 can't be much faster than a 7870. Seems a waste.

Not worth paying ~$450 for a 7970 when you can buy a 670 for ~$399, let alone something like the Evga 670 FTW edition for ~$419.

The 7970 Ghz edition is probably going to trade blows with the 680, if not beat it outright. How do you figure it's not worth paying $450 for a card that is potentially faster than a $500 part?

The heat and load on these AMD cards is way to high. Even if you pay more for an nVidia product, you risk damage related to heat as well as accrue much higher energy costs over the life of the product. Come on AMD, give us something golden.

anyway, they really need to fix their pricing, and yes, its proved already that clock per clock the 7970/680 trade blows all the time

The new 7000 cards have lower temps under load than the new GTX600 cards.

What AMD needs is a 7830. There is barely any price or performance gap between the 7870 and the 7950. Where could this "7930" possibly fit in? There is a huge gulf in both performance and price between the 7850 and 7770. they need a card to fill that gap.

Agreed. I waited a while but I ended up getting 560 Ti.
