Fan controller - Page 2

I've been quite pleased with my Lamptron Touch controller. The price premium isn't too great over say the FC5v2 (only about $8 more on Amazon.com right now), and has 6 channels at 30w each. Also, the screen for each channel can display all the information you could want (RPM, voltage, temperature) without having to flip DIP switches. Control is handled by a % slider than can be adjusted in 1% increments, which is accurate enough for my needs. Also, the controller includes an ARM processor (yeah the same guys that make chips for smartphones) that handles the Auto profiles if you want to use the included temperature sensors with an Auto setup. Lastly, I personally like how you have to hit the little power button on the screen in order to see the fan information, as it's not stuff I need displayed all the time.

The only gripes I have is the power % slider can be a bit sensitive, and there is some noticeable back light bleeding on the edges of the screen. Not a big deal to me but it could for some.

The big selling point for me was aesthetics to be honest. I simply prefer to not have dials or sliders on the front of my rig. It's worth a look if you haven't written off touch screen controllers.

For those that suggest the Lamptron, do you hear a "whine"? I see on several different boards and sites where they are sold that people complain about a high pitched whine emitted by the controller.

I was strongly considering a Lamptron or Sunbeam Rheosmart6, but I went with the Bitfenix Hydra Pro which has 5 channels @ 30W each and uses sliders, which I prefer to dials or touchscreens. The soft-touch finish and ability to control LEDs on Bitfenix Spectre Pro fans are icing on the cake, especially as I will likely be getting 4 140mm Spectre Pro PWM fans for case fans when they are available. I currently have 6 Bgears Blasters 140mm fans (split 3/3 over 2 channels, 4x Koolance 120x25mm 2800rpm on one channel, 2x NZXT FN140LB 140mm + 1x 80x15mm on another channel, and 2x NZXT FN140LB 140mm on the last channel), and with all that it doesn't come close to "choking". Finish is great so far, and for $30 I am incredibly impressed. Mind you, I've had it for all of two days and have only tested it (no 24hr+ runs) but everything from Bitfenix I have purchased has far exceeded my expectations, including all the individually sleeved Extension Cables which are truly phenomenal quality (seriously, you can't get better unless you hit the $30+ per cable mark, and even then I personally prefer the super-tight-Weave fabric over plastic/shiny sleeving).
The Rheosmart6 is also fantastic, it just really didn't suit my build aesthetically.

yep. efficient with a good look. it matches the 5.25 bay mesh. not 100% but you won't notice it unless i point it out.

I don't hear any whining with my Lamptron unit.

That NZXT unit looks sharp; easy and discreet with the ability to control plenty of power.
