You can't do either. The memory is soldered to the logic board.

I just ordered one biggrin.gif

I honestly think the retina display is a little overkilled but guess I cant complain. What really sealed the deal for me is the thickness, having that kind of power cramped into an ultrabook sized machine while maintaining good airflow, battery size and premium sound quality is real engineering to me.

At the same time the desktop looked like it had the same real estate as the non-retina macbook pro's.

Well yeah, I just want to know if there's a way to disable that mode (whatever you want to call it) and force it to a true 2880x1880 resolution. I've wanted >1200p on a laptop for YEARS now, longer than I can remember, but if there's no way to stop it from scaling and pixel-doubling everything then that completely defeats the purpose.

As far as your second question goes, I'd assume that's a no until windows 8 comes out.

Well from that screenshot it looks like you can select "More Space" and get the full resolution, which is awesome smile.gif. And I actually would like Windows to run at 2880x1800, I don't want it to scale smile.gif

I just wish this was all on a 17" screen instead frown.gif

That is changing rather rapidly. Also, games by Blizzard don't count? They're extremely popular, despite any opinions you may have about them.

Wouldn't the moving air affect it less if it were thin? It'd have less air resistance.

A GT 650M? AND A 2880 BY 1800 SCREEN???

Good luck doing anything more intensive than farmville.

And $2200?

Um... give me a nicer GPU (I don't care if I lose 1hr of battery life or the notebook has to become .05" thicker) and lower the price and I'd be all over it. Otherwise... it's interesting I guess. I'll be waiting for the imitators.
