I've had this drive since the beginning of May for my first build and it worked just fine with driver DVD/CD's during installation. I'm not exactly sure when this problem began, seeing as I went a few weeks without needing to use discs of any sort, but now the drive won't recognize anything. (On My Computer the icon remains the same as "DVD RW Drive (D:) and acts as if it is empty.)
I'll offer as much information as I know at the moment: The drive is a C revision of the ASUS DRW-24B1ST model. I've used Microsoft's "Fix It" suggested here:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us
I've tried deleting the upper and lower filters suggested on this page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
If it's worth mentioning, the registry had no LowerFilter entry. And I've reinstalled the drivers to this device several times already. Though it seemed peculiar to me, I also had read some people suggesting a reinstallation of iTunes? None of these methods have made a noticeable change however.
I suppose my question is, what might I be missing? Are these Microsoft "Fixes" even worth trying or should I be looking elsewhere?
