GPU heat on soundcard (squeezed between SLI)?

Thread Starter
I am currently upgrading my pc (after purchasing the catleap and XONAR DX based on OCN advise)and was considering adding two ASUS GTX 670 DC2.

I have a Gigabyte Z68xp-UD4 motherboard and realised that the Xonar sound card two would be squeezed between the 2 GPU and their heat.
Is there any risk in that (heat or other interferences?)?

Thanks

I've seen other people do it before and I think the biggest problem with it was restricting airflow to the top gpu. I'm not sure how the heat would affect the sound card but I've never heard anyone with heat problems who did what you are wanting to do.

I have this current set up, like previous person said, the top gpu gets very hot. Almost twice the temp as my bottom one. Other then that though, my sound card doesn't seem affected.
Knock on wood.

I had to do this before with a soundcard in between two gpu's and it was no problem at all.

So, my concern is the top gpu instead.
How many degrees more compared to the bottom one are we talking about?

I had this problem as well - I had a Z68X-UD4 and Twin Frozr II GTX560 Ti SLI with my Titanium HD.. Top card wasn't happy with that. However, it stayed under 90c.

You might be better off getting a reference card for the top - it'll intake air beyond the reach of the sound card.

regardless of a sound card being there or not the top card always runs hotter in sli and if your that worried about it you could maybe look for an external sound card and use that thumb.gif
