Awesome, I know that excitment, well the Crysis excitement, when you finally have hardware to play this beast at max. It's a great day.

I can understand your excitement, for some reason it still feels gtlichy to me. Odd pauses in gameplay that looks like it's hard disk chugging, hopefully this will change when i get a couple of SSD's.

Well, Crysis is one of the most CPU-dependent games out there, partly because it runs on only 2 threads. It takes a monster CPU (in terms of per-core performance) to hold a steady 60fps in that game throughout. Most games you won't see improvements on the scale of what you're seeing on Crysis. Now, the new proc will definitely help on a number of games, but don't expect THIS much (nearly 2x) improvement wink.gif

Your old cpu @2.66ghz was bottlenecking your GTX 680. I know how you feel though. Playing Crysis on current hardware with high framerates feels like a new game.

Playing Crysis on a 3930k feels like night and day, even when it's paired with a 5770. My Phenom II, coupled with a 6950, isn't even as smooth.

Now play through the entire story, it's fantastic thumb.gif

Yes, in my opinion hardware review-sites should use 2nd maps village-scene or 4th assault-harbor map in their cpu-reviews. Night and day difference between phenom II and 2500k even when using only a midrange gpu.

I also remember that excitement when trying Crysis for the first time after switching to 2500k, I couldnt believe what I was seeing smile.gif
