Gemini Pot - Sealing the Base to the Body?

So I just did a quick dry ice run with a gemini pot i recently picked up and have found a small issue. A slow leak of acetone where the copper base slides into the aluminum body of the pot. How do you recommend sealing this to prevent fluids from leaking out?

Maybe some kind of caulk or something?

well many have had this issue and this is something that i do...

i bought gorilla tape, i tape around the seam where the sleeve and base meet. i use to use blue painters tape and it would leak bad, duct tape works good too. duct tape when removed left residue all over but was able to clean off, gorilla tape leaves almost no residue.

so, use gorilla tape or duct tape, seal around it and your good for 10-15 runs with dice then reapply.

awesome man, thanks for the advice! so, just to clarify, do you mean wrap tape on the part of the body that slides over the base, so as to add some thickness to the sleeve so that its a more snug fit?

or do you mean just put the base into body like normal, and then wrap tape around the outside of the whole thing?

i wonder if i will see these same issues when using ln2??

with ln2, it boils off before it can "leak" thru. plus once the pot gets really cold the metals expand and seal it off.

as far as the tape,

5 runs on Dice over a 3 wk period.

XC and I had this issue with our Tek-9's at August Ice. I applied some liquid electrical tape to the inside to fix it, though we didn't end up using any dice.

hmmm, maybe. although im currently using denatured alcohol (composed of methanol, ethanol, and methyl isobutyl ketone) instead of acetone bc its about the same price and it doesn't smell up my entire house lol

FYI.......acetone fumes are not harful at all.....prolonged exposure to high doses has not caused any observable effects in humans. so its safe, but It just smells bad lol.
