What I did to my tablet..

Thread Starter
Bought an MPMan MID104C as it's called in Europe, or a Coby Kyros, as its named in the states, for €160. Running ICS, I'm thinking it may be rooted from manufacturer, since root apps all work without a problem. So I decided to overclock it properly.

Clocked at 1Ghz, A10 Allwinner chip. Put a 5 cent coin on the chip with some Antec Formula 7, and copper taped the back of the tablet casing. Surrounding the A10 with black electrical tape. And after layering the back casing, covered that with tape too.

Before this mod.. Most I could get was 1008Mhz. Now it's clocked at 1175Mhz and much cooler.

I did hear about copper coins working for phones, so I gave it a go.

Neat trick indeed, and cheap. Thanks for sharing. Any specific things to be careful at when opening the tablet?

I own one of these MID104C tablets also, and what exact Cony Kyros model do you think the MID104C is a rebrand of?
Although they are close siblings, none of MPMAN's previous tablets (MID7C, MID74C...) were exact clones of Coby Kyros models AFAIK.

cool, I think it'd work a little better with a pure copper spacer but for 5 cent it doesn't really matter and you got a pretty decent improvement out of it. thumb.gif

What software are you using? It's Jellybean OS right?

pretty bad ass. I got my phone up to 1600mhz now (galaxy sII e4gt). that heatsink idea though looks like what I need to crack 1700mhz.

And this is why OCN is so invaluable! We are willing to do the crazy and the impossible!

Nice Mod! (Too bad you can only do this on non-Apple stuff.)
