Three days ago I completed my first home build and am running across a few things that seem out of the ordinary to me. Tried searching for this but couldn't find anything conclusive, and nothing with my exact situation.
When I boot up the LED ends on the code A0 - which is "IDE initialization started" according to the Q code, which stays there all the time. I have an SSD and a HDD but they are set to AHCI in the bios and were set that way by default so I'm wondering why I am getting this code at all or why it won't disappear. The only time it changes is when I reboot (where it goes through it's 99, 62, AE, A0 series) or when the computer goes into sleep mode I get a code of 30 - "Waking from S3 sleep" and that eventually changes to 80 (which is not listed in the manual, maybe a typo left out numbers?), and stays that way unless I reboot... where it goes back to A0.
Everything else seems to be working fine, except for the fact that my ram's speed did not show up correctly in the bios. It has it listed as 1333MHz, but it's really a 1600MHz. The exact ram is the: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600, model # - CMZ8GX3M2X1600C7R. (Latency is 7. Timing is 7-8-8-24. 1.5V). I read that this happened to someone else and they just changed it to 1600 in the bios after saying it was something peculiar to this ram or mobo. No idea how correct that is or not.
Back to the A0 code, I have both my SSD and my HDD plugged into the grey SATA ports. And my optical drive plugged into the regular light blue SATA port #3 below that. All my drivers are updated (I thought that might have been the issue). I even installed the Marvel drivers that I don't intend to use, thinking it might help but it didn't. The only driver that has the yellow explanation mark left in Device Manager is the PCI Simple Communications Controller, which I didn't know what it was and it didn't show up on the ASUS download area.
I'm not sure how pertinent any of that info is to the q codes not turning off, but it's everything that seemed strange to me.
Also, I started a thread about my cpu temps... in case the info I stated there is helpful, the thread is here.
Thanks for the help, and hopefully if anyone else has this problem they can find the answer here too.
