Here's a good list. I would actually recommend a Gamefly subscription if you're one to beat games reasonably fast.

Thanks again guys! I started playing Uncharted 1 over the weekend. There are parts of it that are beyond annoying. The "cinematic" camera for instance that keeps getting in my way. Also the gun combat is less than impressive. I'm kind of digging the story and the characters though. So assuming i don't through my controller through a window I think i'll play it to the end.

I also read that "top 40" list. Doesn't make that optimistic to tell you the truth. Several of those are HD re-releases of PS2 games and #40 doesn't even have a release date...and a lot of them were launch titles. I might try MotorStorm...maybe one of those RPGs.

God of War 3, MGS 4, and GT5 are must plays. The Uncharted series gets better as it goes along. The first one literally was one of the first games to come out on the PS3. If you're going to play Motorstorm, I would get Pacific Rift. I've only played the first one, as it came with my original fat, and it lacks multiplayer entirely. Heavenly sword is also an old game that I played through Gamefly a long time ago, but I remember it being decent. The Ratchet and Clank series is obviously a bit cartoony, but I've played both Tools of Destruction and A Crack In Time and enjoyed them both.

There are many others on there that are good too. Just get a Gamefly sub and go to town. I mainly just play GT5 every once in a while and watch Netflix on mine, but there are exclusives that come out every now and then that I just have to get for it.

Heavy Rain is another great game, the first couple hours can be slow, but after that it's edge of your seat excitement!

If that be yer list, it's terrible. No offense.

The second I saw "God of War spawned a lot of imitators" I knew right away the maker of the list knew very little about video games,.

God of War was an imitator, earlier games, such as Devil May Cry, or Prince of Persia, and a handful of others came out years earlier and were massively popular and invented the Genre.

You know what happened the first time I played GoW? I thought "Hey - This reminds me of DMC! And kinda PoP at times!"

Sadly, it did not have anywhere near an interesting story. DMC and PoP had awesome combat AND a interesting story.

God of War was just...decent gameplay, very repetitive, limited moveset. Then you called the Resistance series incredible...lost faith.

inFamous is a terrible game to play if you like Prototype, as it's just a flat out inferior version in gameplay, story, and graphics.

I didn't say anything about Resistance, unless you're referring to a post that you're not quoting.

Obviously anyone's top 40 list on anything isn't going to be congruent to anyone else's personal top 40. I figured anyone can Google the topic and find far more lists of what people consider to be great games for the platform.

As for you disliking GoW so much.. oh well. I know tons of people who enjoyed the game a lot, including myself.

Actually GoW copied Mark of Kri... DMC is a totally different class/genre imo even though they're both heavy action.
Sony has been doing the Mark of Kri/GoW/Heavenly Sword thing for a while.

And man are you ever on point about the story... don't think I'd ever play GoW again.

I'm actually thinking about buying a PS3 too.

Similar reasons, blu-ray and some PS Exclusive games. You should get Dragonball Raging Blast :-D

I got a ton of PS3 games now and barely play any of them. I always say I am going to, but it's hard man...

720p looks so bad. I don't even know why! I play PS2 games still! PS1 games!

yet for some reason, PS3 games often are nearly unplayable for me! I can't explain it! The amount of aliasing in say, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is insane! At one point, ALL YOU CAN SEE IS ALIASING. No clear detail - AT ALL.

Still =/
