Just bought PS3...First things to try? - Page 5

Journey I can recommend.

Played it for my first time today. In love. It was magical, I found myself hooting at the screen in pleasure, and slow muttered "Whoa" 's under my breath. Been awhile since a game took my breath away.

I'm not sure though why you went all out and purchased the largest HDD size that you could find, personally I have the regular 120GB one with a SSD installed in there instead of the HDD (it makes loading times much quicker, especially with games such as GT5 that install a majority of the content onto the HDD)
Its just a gaming console system, no really "wow" features, it just works and does pretty well. Its going to take some getting used to playing PS3 games if you're a medium - high end PC gamer (as the PS3 doesn't have AA and resolution on many games is 720p) its also running something in the range of a 4850 for a GPU, but the Uncharted series does have some pretty decent visuals (based on the game play from 2 & 3 as I've never played the first)
Hope you enjoy the new PS3!

its gpu is rsx, which is essentially a modified geforce 7900 gto(nv47 core) running at 550 mhz core clock but reduced bandwidth in the range of 7600
8 parallel vertex pipelines @550 MHz
24 parallel pixel-shader ALU pipes clocked @ 550 MHz
Floating Point Operations: 400.4 Gigaflops

nt really gr8 by todays standards, but it holds his own with a certain amount of optimisation and adequating software by its incredibly devoted devs.

I highly recomend boarderlands and all its add ons. Its kind of a role playing free roam fps with a leveling system. The graphics arent killer but it has a great story line and awesome game play and has split screen co-op, and you can play through twice with the same characters with harder bad guys and better guns the 2nd go around. I cant wait for boarderlands 2 which comes out in September.

I would recommend Killzone 3, Mass Effect 3, Resistance series, Uncharted Series, and Battlefield 3 (I have both PC and PS3 version - the PS3 version has gotten much better since release).

As for upcoming titles, I would look out for Beyond: Two Souls, The Last of Us, and PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale.

Personally I would suggest both LittleBigPlanet games, they are designed for younger gamers but they are enjoyable and even occasionally challenging. Also Resident Evil 5, I found it very enjoyable playing the co-op with a friend (especially on Expert with a friend that knows how to share ammo tongue.gif ).

I also bought a few original Playstation games from the PS Store such as Crash Bandicoot Racing and the original Rayman, they are old and the graphics are crap but they are still as enjoyable as the first time I played them. biggrin.gif

I almost forgot about little big planet 1 and 2. Those games are awesome no matter how old you are. The offline play is great but the best part is the thousands of user created levels. Some are even better then the ones that go with the story line. I've tried my hand at making a level or 2 but I just suck compared to most, lol

=/

Borderlands...is on PC. PC is it's best version. FPS's on consoles suck. If he was going to get any version, it'd be PC.

Thread Starter
For the record I purchased borderlands during one of those steam sales I don't know how long ago. I tried to play it single player to get the hang of it but didn't get very far and never bothered trying out multi-player. I should probably go back and get my money out of that one. A lot of people seem to love it immensely.
