i have not decided for anything yet, my concern is about the card dumping heat in the case, yes it's not that hot but what about long hours of gaming? won't it build up?

Not with that 180mm fan on top, bringing fresh air in. Since there is no exhaust fans (that I see), that means the fresh air will just simply push the heat out any open vents. Which is actually a good thing.

I'll bet the 7850 would raise your CPU temps at most by 1-2*C as a guess. Which that could easily be solved by using an aftermarket cooler on the CPU.

In other words,
Get the 7850.

It's just a better choice all together.
The cooler actually won't make much of a difference in this case.
It's designed with positive pressure in mind - lots of it.
On top of that, the airflow in these cases is hardly complex to begin with.

There's no reason to dump money into a 2 generation old, hot, outdated, card when you can get such nice price/performance with the 7850.
It uses much less power as well.
It is the card to buy right now, and it will totally smoke any 480 when overclocked.

Now I expect full pictures of the whole system, and good cable management by the end of the week. tongue.gif

Also, if you haven't looked into aftermarket coolers, this one SHOULD fit just fine in your case:

The 180mm exhausts hot air out. cool air will flow from the vents in the side of the case where the graphics card will be situated.

These are the facts. HD 7850 when overclocked to 1050 Mhz gets you to GTX 480 / GTX 570 range. At 1200 Mhz you will be faster than HD 7870.
Even an overclocked HD 7850 will draw around 140w. it has only one 6 pin power. on the contrary a GTX 480 draws 280w power. Gets even worse when you overclock. So for similar performance you spend double the power. Also you have a much hotter card making a lot more noise . GTX 480 at stock gets close to 95c. you can see the load temps in the review below.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2977/nvidia-s-geforce-gtx-480-and-gtx-470-6-months-late-was-it-worth-the-wait-/19

also heat and dust are two factors which affect the life of PC components. so decide for yourself.

The stock case pictures of that case on newegg show the 180mm fan as intake, and that would actually be the preferred way for it to be facing as well, considering CPU fans blow downwards. That way you don't have two fans fighting against each other.

Then, all of the warm air in the case, will naturally flow out of the vents, due to the pressure from the intake fan on top.

Again, this is how it would make the most sense, and its also how the stock pictures show it.

the fan is configured as intake, and man, it moves a lot of air! but i'm still worried about heat buildup though

yeah you are right. but even if the top fan is pushing cool air into the cabinet , without having fans in the back side of the cabinet to vent hot air it will be a problem. Air pressure might not be the best solution to vent the hot air building inside the cabinet. I think for long hours of gaming there will be significant ambient temps build up inside the case especially for a very hot card like GTX 480. just my thoughts . i might be wrong.

it will be fine..u got a big 180 mm on the top that blows air into the case....than the side panels are ventilated... shouldn't be a problem...its basically a case with no coverings either way..coz of the full ventilation and a huge fan blowing into it.
