yeah a HD 7850 can be OC'd to 1200 Mhz and gets very close to a GTX 580 perf. for much lesser power, heat and noise. the OP could consider getting a HD 7850 if he hasn't got the GTX 480 yet. here is a HD 7850 card with a very good cooler.

Not with that 180mm fan on top, bringing fresh air in. Since there is no exhaust fans (that I see), that means the fresh air will just simply push the heat out any open vents. Which is actually a good thing.
I'll bet the 7850 would raise your CPU temps at most by 1-2*C as a guess. Which that could easily be solved by using an aftermarket cooler on the CPU.
