Anyone know the highest stable FX-60 overclock and how it was done (voltage, FSB, multi, etc)?

Each chip is different. 3.0ghz seems to be the limit.

Would be a bad CPU score at 3.0ghz however 3.0ghz is the best ive seen.

Yeah, 3.0's about the limit for the dual core FX's.

There's gotta be higher. In the "cool" lab at school (-100 C) One guy got a FX-62 to just below 4.0 GHz. But I must admit, I cannot comment on his stability

Have you got four 1 gb sticks of ram? If so you won't be able to run 1T and that will affect your benches (and may hinder your overclocks slightly as well). I have an FX-57 in my kids rig (almost bought the FX-60 instead at the time) but the 57 was OC to slightly over 3.2 Ghz on air (temps were just tolerable at that OC). On phase the FX-60 has hit 3.3 Ghz (xtremeforums). On air, 2.9 is likely, on water, 3.1 running right at the wire.

Besides are you looking for top "boot" speed or stable/benchable speed. Different thing entirely. The FX-57 will hit in excess of 4 ghz on cascade phase as well but its not like you can run it at those speeds for anything.

=/ 1t and 2t command timing for your ram.

if you really want to see what the highest overclock is for your proc, just overclock it yourself. maybe you'll get lucky and get the magical lucky proc that'll hit 5 ghz........chances are no, but you can still get a high OC...

but don't ask us for advice on it, just do it.

Dude I'm new here, still trying to figure out how to change the RAM speed, I've been told drop it (and multiplyer) and increase FSB, but when you're new to this it ain't easy. Also, if I overclock and my bios freezes, how do I get it back to normal and start again?

Please mudd be serious. The highest OC on phase I have seen (and I did a lot of research choosing between an FX-60 and an FX-57) is as i mentioned 3.3 on phase. Cavalry, if you got water, with some work you can probably hit 3.1 max. regarding ram timings, 1T is faster than 2T. Using 4 1 GB sticks with an amd board (nf4 controller) forces the ram into 2T mode. If you take out two sticks, you can run 1T (Suggested if you want to run benches).

Resetting the cmos is simple, unplug the psu, and move the cmos jumper over for 30 seconds to clear it (Restores it to default). Place jumper back in place and it should boot fine.

The first thing you can try is to increase the cpu multi from 13 to 14x. this will bring you up to 2.8 ghz without overclocking the ram. It should be stable. Then you can try messing with ram timings. Eventually you will have to clock down your cpu and clock up your fsb (Which will also overclock your ram as well). This is where you may need to add voltage to ram or cpu to keep it stable. Remember though that too much voltage can fry chips and it increases heat output proportionately. Check the FAQ's on this site for overclocking guides. There are some excellent ones.
