MOBO for ivy 3570K? tossing up between boards.

Thread Starter
g'day.

so i've purchased most my gear besides the ram.
gear i already have is:

Intel Core i5 3570K
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 OC 2GB
Corsair Force Series 3 120GB SSD
Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler
CoolerMaster Silent Pro Gold 800W
CoolerMaster HAF X Case

for memory i was going to buy:
Corsair Vengeance CML8GX3M2A1600C9W 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 (x2 for total of 16GB)

only thing that has stopped me so far is the mobo. i was convinced on the gigabyte z77-ud3h, then i was going to go for the z77 ud5h then people are telling me get the sabertooth then the g1 sniper. I wanted to roughly spend $200 AU for the mobo.

cpu will be overclocked to 4ghz straight up and kept there. the gpu i'm going to read up and fiddle with a little considering the cooler it comes with the the haf x being pretty sweet to cool the card on air.

suggestions for mobo? so far i'm leaning towards the z77-ud3h as i dont think i will use the features on the sniper, even then, i'm not very familiar with all these features on boards. any help would be great i would like to get it built by the weekend!

I don't like the SSD....try one of these: Which ever you can get at a good price to performance ratio (if you find a good deal), up to you.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1179518/seans-ssd-buyers-guide-information-thread#user_SeansrecommendedSSDs

Corsair Performance Pro = Plextor M3 Pro (cream of the crop, but expensive)
Plextor M3 (popular when on sale)
Samsung 830 (popular on sale right now?)
OCZ Vertex 4 (very fast, but risky)
Crucial M4 (popular)
Intel 520 (reliable, but expensive)

As for the MOBO...I say best bang for buck is either the Asrock Z77 Extreme4 Or Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H: http://www.overclock.net/t/1260690/help-asrock-z77-extreme4-or-gigabyte-ga-z77x-ud3h

Just pick the one you are leaning toward...and which ever slot placement/configuration works better for you. I personally don't like wasting too much money on motherboard ($150+)...for features I will never use and provide no benefit.

Lastly, as long as the RAM is at least 1600 9-9-9-24....you're fine. Most people only ever need 8gb..16gb provides no benefit for 98% of the people out there. However, if you do graphical work or have other RAM intensive usage (you would know this better than me)...go for it! thumb.gif

EDIT: Just noticed you already got the SDD..nvm about that then. tongue.gif

Since you don't state what the rig is for, I'm assuming gaming. (Popular gaming CPU & GPU) Therefore, I say 16GB is overkill. No need for that much, 8GB will work just fine.

Don't be ridiculous. If you paid for it, use the damn stuff! smile.gif Whether you need the RAM or not is irrelevant IMHO. Overkill on OCN? LOL - good one!
