Kuhler Chronicles (Antec 920 Leak - Update 15 - 10/1/12) it's still not over. - Page 7

But Corsair will replace your affected parts no questions asked when adequate proof is provided (you pay shipping only to ship the defective cooler in).
Antec isn't doing this.

I know for a FACT there is an Antec Rep on JonnyGURU.com, and he's active there.
Look for "GI_Joe" on the forums there.

Should also be noted that I am the type of person who generally has zero patience with customer service reps and generally whenever I call it takes me about five minutes to ask for the supervisor. I understand where you are coming from basically. But again they aren't doing anything out of the ordinary. In fact the vaunted corsair who everyone in this thread is convulsing about makes you pay for shipping on RMA as well.

The problem is, if he spends the money to send his system to them and insure it (which is a lot of money), and they miraculously find nothing wrong with the cooler (the only source of water in the box). If this happens, he's out his original shipping costs + cost of his rig + time + he has to pay for them to ship his rig back to him.

Yeah I understand. But you're asking Antec to basically give you a thousand dollars to replace all your stuff. Put in context paying for shipping is not a huge deal.

Like I said if they come back and say it looks ok to us or the cooler is broke but the parts aren't our fault then I think you have an argument. Right now though I don't really sympathize.

And like I said Corsair has the exact same policy as far as I can tell.

It's also totally understandable they ask to see the system. Highly doubtful all his parts are broken but he could easily claim they all are. Not saying the OP is a liar. I'm talking in general. As far as the hard drives go he could easily test them himself and just send in what's broken.

Corsair will pay for a shipping label actually. The drives also need to be shipped out to them as well as noted by the OP. Everything needs to be shipped out to Antec to test.

If they are asking for him to give them his own property to test their property product, they should be the ones responsible for getting those components to themselves.

Does Newegg pay the shipping costs to get product to you? Hell no. Even if the product itself lists as "Free Shipping" they are making that money in some other form. Business 101.

Nothing stopping him from taking his hard drives out or his drives that have sensitive information on them out. And Corsair's web site says they will not do that.

Anyway you guys can continue to be angry at industry standard practices. Have a good one.

That's just it: this is NOT an industry standard practice.

It is NOT industry practice to have a customer ship you their property that they did not buy from you.

This guy sent his own stuff in. Considering Corsair and Antec are the two main CLC manufacturers out there I would say it is industry standard practice.
Send your stuff in and get it replaced dude. No one is going to care except for a few people on OCN looking for something to be angry about.
