It works very well. If you decide you want to use a coolant, go with Ice Dragon http://icedragoncooling.com/ and Mayhems Dye works great with it, and ID has its own biocide.

I'm just going with distilled water with Mayhems deep blue dye. I'm just concerned about which biocide to use since I have a nickel plated GPU block. It looks like Mayhem's biocide is the exact same thing as PT nuke, he even says so himself here.

I don't think it is the same, but send him an e-mail, he will let you know. He is great to work with!

EDIT: Are you sure Mayhem's is different from PT Nuke? I've seen some people say it's basically the same thing and is copper based as well.

Send him an e-mail.

I think there have been some reports of it still happening.

I would check the later pages of this thread. http://www.overclock.net/t/915966/please-read-before-purchasing-ek-nickel-plated-blocks-update-revised-plating-info/1360

I'm just going to have to roll the dice at this point. I already have a nickel plated block on it's way and I need my loop up and running this weekend.

PT Nuke was never the cause, though it was blamed repeatedly by EK. Corrosion due to faulty plating, whether insufficient or improperly applied, was and is the problem. But EK will never admit it because, of course, that would necessitate a total recall of all nickel blocks. Instead, EK now blames Distilled Water for their blocks falling apart.
Smoke & Mirrors = more block sales. The internet, fortunately, never forgets.

Thanks for your point of view Sidewinders, I had wondered why you carried none of EK's newer stuff and was selling off your old stock of their's so cheap. In my situation, already having purchased one of their new blocks before I had read all this, what would you recommend I do? I really don't have the time to return it and purchase a different block so should I just assume their new plating process is better and not worry about what additives I put in my loop?
