AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Thuban....... slow build.....

So i want to upgrade to the AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Thuban, Im running on the ASUS M4A78LT-M motherboard.(NOTE i will be upgrading the motherboard later on) The phenom X6 is kinda old, i know that the FX series would be the way to go, but im still running the AM3 socket. So the big question is, if i get the phenom X6 in about 3 years will it be to weak and slow to stay up with the technology ??? i want this PC to last about 3 to 4 years

i run a home business, photo editing, video editing, games, and always have like alot of programs running in the back grown on my PC.

Will getting the phenom X6 be a good choose, or save for a FX and motherboard ???

The current bulldozer module design is not good enough. The anchient K10 arhitecture the Phenom ii is using is still much better.

For example, my Phenom II 955 4 Ghz crushes the FX 8150 in games and keeps up (not far behind) with it in highly threaded applications.

I would say to wait for the Piledriver arhitecture to come out, or fortunately the steamroller.
Little AMD rig.

hi,

If i understand you correctly you want to buy a thuban in 3 years right? well your going to have a hard time i think becouse in my understanding they dont make the thubans anymore frown.gif....

i got a 1100t myself, and i love the thing. But however, in 3 years time, i imagine that there will be much better CPU's on the market then tuban. so i think that you're right by saying that it would be slow, in comparison with new technology. so i'd go for saving money for a newer generation CPU and motherboard.

but i can be wrong smile.gif

hello,
what cpu do you have at the moment please?
a 960t would fit your board and maybe unlock in to a 6 core.

Sh4dowH4ze : sorry about that ya my mistake done now even why i put that, but i want it to last 3 years. Im planning to buy it next month

MrPerforations: i have the athlon 2 X2 220 its a good chip but not keeping up with what i want to do. Ya thats a good chip "950t", but no overclocking or unlocking do to factory board. but plan to get the ASUS M4N98TD EVO AM3 its old board but still gets the job done. thumb.gif
