2500k OCing Question, No Blue screens, but BF3 Crashing.

Thread Starter
As the title states, I have my 2500k OCed, I've had it stable up to 4.9 and such, but wanted to finally hit 5.0Ghz. Currently, the temps on real temp say that none of my cores went highger than 64C, and same on CPUID HWMonitor.
I have the Voltage at 1.45, and Multi at 50. I followed $ilent's guide to set up my OC, and just switched over to my new Z77 Sabertooth from a P67 Evo. My GPU only hit 51 C and it's set with a low OC of 1000/1500 on stock core with no artifacting or anything.

I can provide any info needed, just confused as to BF3 crashing rather than a blue screen with that low of temps thinking.gif

Check your system log, see if any events exist which may give a clue. (go to control panel, admin tools, event viewer, windows logs, system)

I believe my OC to be stable as well, i have no WHEA, or other, system events reported and BF3 crashes all the time for me. It's random sometimes it crashes nearly instantly, sometimes i can play for hours. I suspect it is chip set/video drivers but i have no real clues to go on. So it may not be your OC... were you fine running on the Z68 mb or at 4.9Ghz? If you are fine at 4.9Ghz just be happy with it - you wont feel the 100Mhz, it's only a 2% increase in clock.

I'm betting GPU overclock.
When BF3 crashes open GPU-Z, if your GPU clock is at its default then its your GPU OC.
BF3 stable >>> Crysis stable > 3D mark stable > Heaven stable from what I've found.

I'll load up the windows log and try another run at BF3 and see what happens thumb.gif , 4.9 ran fine, I normally Folded when it was at 4.9 in the winter. I'm just trying to hit 5 for funsies, I need to see if I can haha.

I've had the GPU clocked at 1200/1600 when CPU was at 4.5GHz, I don't believe it's the GPU.

BF3 is a little picky with GPU overclocks sometimes. Like I can push my OC for benches on my 680 but if I try playing BF3 I need to drop it a few points.

What I meant above was that on BF3, 1200/1600 was stable. Sorry about the miscommunication biggrin.gif

I may have found why BF3 was crashing for me. It's 32-bit, not high-mem aware, and needs more than 2GB of memory kookoo.gif
http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/forum/threadview/2832654624714033242 details how to increase the addressable memory of 32bit apps. It still crashes on me but nowhere near as often

BF3 usually always crashes if I use too aggressive of an OC profile on my video cards. I've never had an issue with my cpu OC though.
