Recommend me a nice PSU

Thread Starter
So I'm in the stages of building my new PC, So far the specs are:-

Case: Silverstone Fortress FT02B

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Formula x79

CPU: i7 3930k

Memory: 16GB Corsair Dominator GT 2133

GPU: GTX680

SSD: Sandisk Extreme 240GB

HDD: WD Black 1TB

Now, I do plan on Watercooling the GPU/CPU, Although I can't decide on what decent PSU to get, i'd like 2 options for PSU's, 1 for the current build and one for the same build but with SLI GTX680's!

Any help would be much appriciated!
Well for the current build a 600-650 watt psu would be enough, however for sli I would go for something between 750-850 watts.

You should take corsair ax series into consideration.
However there are plenty of other good power supplies out there.

Agreed. The ax 750 or ax850 would be the way to go if you have the money. If you want to save some money and still get a nice PSU, the HX series is semi modular and corsair also has a non modular series.

I recommend Corsair in general. It just depends on what you want to spend

Personally, I would go with the Hive. Better features & lower price.

This would make an excellent choice, considerably more than you need for your single card setup and comfortably sufficient for you SLI option... excellent value too.
A 450w PSU would be enough for a build w/ a single GTX 680, 550w if you're worried about pumps etc. SLI, a quality 650w would be just fine.

Actually you can run SLI 680s on a 650. 750 if you want overkill and 850 if you feel like wasting money. Check out the OCN recommended power supply thread and you'll find a lot there. I would link but I'm on my phone. In regards to the corsair they are great units but typically overpriced. Aside from the AX1200 they have seasonic internals and are pretty much the same as the seasonic x series.

[Edit]
When I recommended the 650 watt that includes room for extras and plenty of overclocking. Fans barely pull any power unless you plan on getting some seriously high rpm fans.

So many options :O, I honestly thought I'd need a 750w for a single gtx 680 and a 3930k, But it's nice to see I can get a quality 650w and save a few pennies!
