Bitfenix Spectre Pro LED 200MM problem...

Thread Starter
I've purchased and received the Bitfenix Spectre Pro LED 200mm by mail. I've tested it from low speed to high speed (900RPM) with the fan controller.

The fan does make clicking sound as seem like it is scratching something but I've checked the fan again, nothing is being touched on the blades.

Do any of you have the same issue? Sound noise worse than the stock Corsair 200mm from 600T... sadly due to the clicking or grinding noise.

The faster it spin the faster the click or grind sound is... should I RMA back to retail store or Bitfenix?

This is my first Bitfenix product...

What store/website did you buy the fan from? I would contact Bitfenix directly first. You might just get lucky and not have to send the fan in. They might want you to send them a video for proof and send you a replacement. Don't quote me on this though smile.gif

Most of the time, it is not our fan. It's the electricity that is regulated from the fan controller.

I will suggest you use a 5V adapter, and a 7V adapter and connect it directly to the PSU. Record the sound via those adapters and not the fan controller.

The fan noise stop for a few second if I tap on it or shake it a bit. Then it starts again.

edited: second try, I pressure down the fan middle firmly. It looks like the fan blade section was dislocated from the body... for now the noise is gone...

try it with a 5V and 7V adapter straight from your PSU. Fan controllers have mainly been the issue. Especially when you're manually selecting the fan RPM speed.

It just died... it is having issue spinning even plug into the PSU / Fan controller. I've tested with my old 200mm fan still rocking hard running fast except this Bitfenix. It gets very very hot in the middle (burning hot) and it is not reporting RPM anymore.

Take a short video proof/evidence and we'll get it RMA'd. support@bitfenix.com

Sad to hear that, some fans react better then others on fan controllers.

I'm sure everything will be sorted out perfectly through the RMA with bitfenix
