Brand new display is scratched

Hello all,

I have just received my BenQ XL2420T from Newegg today and it's nearly perfect except for one thing. There's a small scratch on the center of the screen which causes a small but noticeable warping of colors around it. I'm fairly certain I can RMA it but was wondering the best method to remove the scratch, as there are apparently a lot.

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Hi Pyroh,

I've seen numerous methods to mitigate the appearance of scratches like vaseline, isopropyl alcohol, and even a soft pencil eraser. I've personally used vaseline with moderate success on an out-of-warranty monitor.

However, personally I would just RMA it. Products you get should arrive as pristine as possible and definitely should not involve any additional repairs on your part to get it working as intended.

Yeah I suppose you're right, this is probably just my impatience speaking anyways but I imagine it shouldn't take too long to RMA. Thanks for the advice smile.gif

Only thing is if the scratch is the only thing wrong with it, no dead pixels, backlight bleed, tinting, ect. You might want to try to remove it nerdsmiley.png and not RMA it because you never know if the one they send back will be perfect thinking.gif
