I'd say take the xb300 off the list because you already have the xb500 as a choice. The 668b and the sr850 are told to be the same because of the OEM (superlux). I haven't tried the 681 yet, but according to some reviews I've read, the 668b's are better.

Personally I'd go with the 668b's. http://www.head-fi.org/t/433318/shootout-102-portable-headphones-reviewed-panasonic-rp-htf600-added-04-29-12

The 681 is sort of a more aggressive 668b. The 681 has more bass then the 668b. And there is a lot more highs (both headphones have way too much high frequency that should be EQ'd). People have said the 681 has a slight tinny sound to it (i don't notice this)

The XB's will have a LOT more bass and are a lot more comfortable but mids are recessed.

I personally recommend the 681 over the 668b. It's also cheaper then the 668b. Both Superlux also have dozens of mods you can do. You should also get new ear pads for the Superlux because the stock are horrible.

P.S. The Samson SR850 is a 688b with a 681's design.

I would say wait for the CAL's to go on sale again for 60 over all of those choices. They go on sale every few months and unfortunately you're a week late from getting them for $60 but again they go on sale every once in a while.

The JVC RX900 is a super tight headphone, use it myself for a lot of different uses, and it works great!
