Just wanted to add this game is finally a rare example of an i7's advantage over an i5 (not drastic, but substantial.) Mine actually got up to 43% utilization and hovered around there. I've never seen my CPU threads so active on any game this generation. My limiting factor seems to be my GTX 680 1211/6912 is taxed 99% the entire time on highest quality settings and 4xMSAA/FXAA with my measly 2GB VRAM maxed. But is anyone else with me on the fact that it doesn't look as good as it should? I mean based on how much its taxing my hardware, for some reason it just doesn't "wow" me. Maybe its just the beta.

I have an i5 2500k and I had task manager open to check out how much CPU usage the game used. Wow it was pretty much pegged at 90-95% the whole time. I never seen it this high, even in BF3

I know borderlands 2 was a recent title that actually gained some nice FPS from going quad core, or high overclock....I'm wondering if Crysis 3 is the next step in this direction? Past Crysis games have usually been GPU heavy.

So even after adding the Crysis 3 exe to Nvidia Inspector my 690 wasn't going into SLI mode. Up until now I had no problems with any games with 690 going into SLI. I did know about the SLI Enhancement patch, just sad it was needed for the 690 for Crysis 3. Thanks for the link because after trying it I'm now in SLI. smile.gif

GTX 690 with slight +100 Mhz over clock on Core & Memory @ 115% Power.

As for Crysis 3 and my experience. I tried settings on Very high detail with FXAA & TXAA options getting about 50 FPS. Disabled AA and sitting about 60 FPS. Not ideal for my 120 Hz monitor with stutter and lag. Dropped settings one notch to 'high' detail with TXAA enabled and I'm in 100 FPS constant with some graphics eye candy. I never peak over 1.752 GB VRAM usage. Frame rates are fluid again. smile.gif

Hope optimization from Crytek and driver updates from both AMD and Nvidia help performance so everyone can enjoy this game.

Borderlands 2 as well as Battlefield 3 are good examples of games which benifit from hexa core. (SB-E)

Utilities like Precision (EVGA) and AfterBurner (MSI) show how much VRAM is allocated for the game, not how much the game is actually using or how much the game needs.

Just because a particular game shows 1,800MB in the VRAM monitor does not mean that it is using 1,800MB or that it even needs 1,800MB. All it tells you is that the game has decided to allocate 1,800MB. It may only be using or only need 1,500MB.

It seems similar to the RAM indicator in Windows 7. (I guess they have relations as DirectX (D3D) is integrated into the kernel level of Windows).
If you have 16GB installed, it will appear that Windows 7 is using more RAM than if you only have 8GB installed. Most games are also written to allocate a certain percent of VRAM, so the more you actually have the more it will "appear" to be using.

The only real way to determine you are limited by VRAM amount is to increase the graphic settings until performance takes a sharp dive indicating VRAM swapping. If performance only decreases slightly and linearly, it's likely it's because you are using more stressful settings and putting a larger load on the GPU and shaders.

That being said, no, the game doesn't look as good as it should. Especially, compared to what Crytek showed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp5bSZmaQto

I think you can add them to autoexec.cfg in the game folder and they should work.

That's why I'm getting this game for campaign, not MP crap. I have BF3 and other decent MP games for that.

Are you actually HOLDING DOWN left click to draw your bow before firing? If you're not drawing your bow, you may as well be firing a pea shooter.

I won't make fun of you, the very first time I fired it I did the same thing and the CELL guy /lol'd and killed me biggrin.gif

Guys.

But from the other side, i remember Crysis 2 BETA and gameplay on maxed details was amazing smooth, and on final version too:) So this is why i doubt that on Crysis 3 will be a huge step, from beta to final version , if we thinking about performance.

I am talking about mine card Gtx 680 that is not enough to play on V.HIGH even with FXAA.frown.gif
