Ugliest engine on the planet? Are you kidding me? New source-based games look great, even old ones don't look that bad.

Ever play Cinematic Mod?
Source Engine can look amazing. I think it is a very neat concept which might pave the way for interractive movie experiences.
Watch an episode then play through the episode from another perspective on your gaming machine, awesome.

Much like Blue Shift and Opposing Forces was for Half-Life, get another perspective while following the original story trail.

Does this mean realistic graphics are overrated?

Toy Story was aimed at kids. Kids liking stuff makes money, just as Nintendo somehow continues to survive with the same tired refreshed crap with every new generation, just with a few gimmicks thrown in.

FF movie was more adult orientated, and if people were not interested in FF to begin with, the chance that they would go see it is low.

Plus, Toy Story is Disney and Pixar. They will shoot you with dollar bills if you don't submit.

I think the case for great graphics in movies could be argued with Avatar, and with a Halo movie if they ever made it.

Side note: Toy Story was the best thing to have Steve Job's name on it!

Toy Story stayed trued to its name: it had a good story.

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within did not live up to its name: it had no soul.

In regards to the Nintendo comment: You criticise Nintendo for reusing its long history of IP, yet defend Final Fantasy? redface.gif
