I7 3770K Overclocked To 4.6 Temps! - Page 5

Ok was getting crashes at 4.4oc in 1.2volts after checking a few components it was a faulty ram stick. Changed my ram with 2133 gskill and re-did my oc to 4.4 at stick volts no crashes or errors after 24 hours stress with prime 95 and 40 passes intel burn. Stable :-) when I first oc my watercooling was just installed after a few weeks the temps are outstanding 59c it has crept up to 62 but settled back down again. It is a cold day though 20c

With an H80i and 3770k oc'd to 4.6 i'm getting around 75 degrees at full load. not too bad considering that the stock cooler maxed out at 103 degrees

H80i, 3770K 4.6 GHz and a max of 87C during prime, its just me or the H80i isnt that effective at high temperatures? what am I doing wrong?

Nah it's about right my h100 would get only a couple degrees better, wasnt too impressed by it then changed to custom water. X2 240mm rads and reservoir then my temps dropped down by about 12c on load. 46x100 and I get about 69c on full load after about 2 hours. It really does need more radiator and fans too dissipate heat especially because the 3770k does reach high temps smaller die size. Plus ****ty Thermal paste. It also depends on how you are stressing the chip and ambient temps. I can use prime and get different temps depending if I'm running blend, small fft or large fft's.To do a proper comparison you need to find out which test they are using and what the ambient temps are. If my room is 15c and someone else has a room temp of 25c. There's a 10c difference already. :-)

Some 3770ks also just run hotter by a few degrees regardless of volts and cooling. I've switched to 3930k from 3770k and the difference in temps are quite substantial I'm pumping more volts through it but yet temps are about 12c cooler. Bigger chip and even though it uses more watts it still is cooler. I tried a couple 3770k,s but because intel stopped platform 1155 I decided to go the 2011 platform and am much happier. Then again I do utilise the extra cores fir video rendering and often run quite a few program's at once in which 6 cores makes tasks run quicker.
