Monitor HDMI issue

Thread Starter
Recently bought a Sapphire 7850 which only has 1 DVI plug. My Asus monitor has an HDMI plug on it. When I hook up my computer to HDMI and set it to it's native resolution of 1920 x 1080 it cuts my screen off. There are black bars on the top, left and bottom of the screen. This doesn't happen if I hook it up to the DVI port. However my Samsung monitor only has DVI so I'm hooking it up with that. So, how can I fix my other monitor so that it displays 1920 x 1080 without shrinking my usable desktop area?

Have you tried resetting the monitor to the factory defaults? This sounds like a problem with the positioning settings on the monitor itself.

Enter Catalyst Control Centre and check for 'scaling options' under 'my digital flatpanels'. Make sure it is set to 'Overscan 0%' or all the way to the right.

Exactly right! This is where you will find your solution. Go to Catalyst Control Center, and then click on tab named My Digital Flat Panels. There you will find some more choices, and you choose Properties (Digital Flat Panels) first and then check "enable Gpu Scaling"

Then click on the tab, two down from that one, called Scaling options. Then use the slider until you have it like you want, and hit apply

That did the trick, thanks. Went from a 4850 to a 7850 so I was used to the old CCC.
