I don't think I'm ready to call Comcast bastions of freedom.

So ISPs are spending a lot of man hours digging up information via court order and by doing so they likely loose a customer...to anger or to no longer being able to afford Internet redface.gif

Is nothing paid to them for this service? They can't charge a fee for the data gathering? Perhaps an additional court cost that is in turn paid to the ISP?

By refusing to give the info they are possibly aiding criminals, but giving the info out is hurting their bottom line. Kind of a rock and a hard place there.

I just wish US Metro's ( Local Fiber ISP ) prices were a little more competitive for the bandwidth requirements and low up-time requirements of my clientele.

Each of my lines are around 200 clams/mo. What are you paying for the 50/15 if I might ask?

This is a very surprising, and good, thing. If all ISPs did this, they couldn't shut them all down. Hopefully more follow, otherwise I see Comcast putting up a fight but ultimately giving in.

Think it was more due to caps and cut/offs then actually nabbing people for downloading copyrighted materials. Although I did here of a friend getting a warning letter for copyrighted

Kinda hoping that after THIS JUDGE decided that obtaining person info on accused people via IP addresses was a problem, that all of these lawsuits would be dealt with accordingly. Well, at least Crapcast has taken some sort of a stance on the issue.
