P5B deluxe and e6600 overclocking problems

Thread Starter
ive just brought a P5B deluxe mobo with e6600, its all been running fine so i decided to start over****ing her. tried a few things and couldnt get it to boot, so i just tried literaly only upping the FSB to 280 and still no boot, just sits with full fan speeds, i have to turn it off at the mains just to get it to go into bios again......

ive just updated the bios to the latest version and ive got the same problems.

can anyone offer any advice?

ok ive managed to get 3ghz (FSB 335) but it wont boot at 340 FSB??

ive got the ram set fairly low for now so that cant be my problem, im slowly upping the vcore but its perfectly stable at 3ghz with vcore of 1.3, surely another 5 FSB wouldnt need more vcore to boot but not ncesarily by stable

What's with this RAM running slow? What is that mean?

I run my 800mhz modules to 1000mhz with a 2.30v, they're at 2:3 ratio and if that's the problem then try some more Vdimm and you won't have that problem and also what timings and ratio are you using?

BTW, right now with my OC, I'm at stock everything pretty much, except for RAM which is the only thing I've set to 2.30v in the BIOS.

Well, take a look at these threads and see how you can improve your overclocking with it: Link 1, also Link 2 and last one Link 3.

My folding rig is a P5B deluxe, E6600, GSkill DDR21000.

It is currently running happy, but a bit hot, at:
500mhz FSB
Mult X7, CPU at 3.5GHZ 1.5V.
Ram, stock at 1GHZ 2.3V, 1:1 ratio, 4-4-4-5 timings

North Bridge and FSB termination voltage are at max. CPU is water cooled and the NB/SB have large air-cooled copper blocks.

100% utilization on both cores brings the CPU to 49c, MB to 30C (using TAT).

So, only difference between mine and yours is the bas ram speed. What are your RAM stock timings? And, what do you have the modules set to (divider and timings) in BIOS? What is your RAM and CPU voltage set to?

EDIT: Or look at Nasgul's recommendations...essentially the same setup as mine.
