Then of course I stumbled on a deal for a 7870 for $310...that's only $40 more, and I'm very tempted to just go for it.
I know the 7850s are supposed to be the best bang-4-buck, but don't the 7870s still hold their own a bit better when OC'd too?
I game at 1920x1080, just trying to see if it's worth splurging a bit or if I should wait a lil more for a 7850...
A new HD 7870 card for USD 310 is a good deal. HD 7870 at 1.25 - 1.3 Ghz is close to HD 7970 and GTX 680. Its really a fast card. HD 7850 will be much slower even if overclocked.
BF3 2560 X 1600 Ultra 2x MSAA
Sapphire HD 7870 OC (1280 Mhz) - avg 44.3 min 27 fps
Sapphire HD 7970 OC (950 Mhz) - avg 47.3 min 28 fps
GTX 680 - avg 49.4 min 24 fps
Batman Arkham City 2560 X 1600 FXAA High
Sapphire HD 7870 OC (1280 Mhz) - avg 46.2 min 33 fps
Sapphire HD 7970 OC (950 Mhz) - avg 49.9 min 33 fps
go for the HD 7870. also which HD 7870 card is it ? here are a few good deals after mail in rebate
Sapphire HD 7870 - USD 325 (USD 310 after rebate)
XFX HD 7870 - USD 320 (USD 300 after rebate)
Personally I would go with sapphire. Some users mention XFX restricts voltage OC on their cards. with sapphire trixx you can tweak voltage and get to 1200+ Mhz easily on sapphire HD 7870.
