The overclocks listed in this section were achieved with the default fan and voltage settings as defined in the VGA BIOS.

It's maybe due to above reason. However, I think Asus have the best cooler but I don't like it. Hehe... Guys, do reference 7850 with watercool can perform better than custom pcb? Thinking of getting for 2 way cfx but if custom fan design, might make top card getting warmer than the bottom one.

It doesn't surprise me that the Powercolor PCS+ HD 7850 was able to achieve the highest clocks. Powercolor cherry-pick cards for their PCS+ line in order to achieve high factory clocks. The problem is that while it may overclock higher than the rest, I doubt it stays cooler than the Asus or the MSI Twin Frozr. Running Furmark which is arguably the most stressful GPU utility @ 1230MHz core, 1500MHz memory and 1150mV my Asus HD 7850 tops out at 72 degrees Celsius and this is with 45% fan usage on auto. Manually controlling fan usage, temperatures are lower. With above clock ratings and 3570K @ 4.3GHz, 16GB DDR3 1600, I score mid 7200 in 3DMark 11!! This positions the card next to a slightly OCd GTX 580 and 7950 territory. Pretty impressive considering this card scored P5556 @ Stock settings including processor...+23% performance boost

I mean I tried Passmark, it runs GPU Clock 1100 MHZ and Memory Clock 1400 MHZ, any higher and it doesn't pass the testing it crashes on 2nd test. The score went up dramatically to like 5400 so I'm happy.

This can play Metro 2033 very high, 16x AA and 1080p with good framerates like 70 or 60. But I'm using DX10 not 11 because I heard it improved them abit. I can always put it back to DX11 but then I need to use High or Normal.

Alright bye

I envy you guys and your amazing overclocks. I am also regretting buying the MSI Power Edition. Max i have stable is 1050/1450 at 1.21v.

@ Mauley:

Did you remember to increase both your voltage and your power target? I had trouble getting much higher myself until I decided to max out my power target in Asus GPU tweak (120%).

I can't control my temperatures at the moment (mATX and subpar airflow, will try to install a side fan soon) but it seems Ive managed to stabilize 1175Mhz/1400Mhz @ 1,180v on my MSI Twin Frozr III 7850 (1,075v stock).
Im actually pretty satisfied with my results since I only started reading about/doing OCing ~24 hours ago smile.gif Been working quite a lot with it in that timespan though and had a fair share of BSODs...

7420 3DMark11 graphics score screenshot (running 12.11 beta4 .net driver); http://i49.tinypic.com/rsew5i.jpg

- All advice is welcome and this thread should have a little more information; http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2987251

EDIT: ok, even 1100/1400 keeps crashing in game for me now...

No activity? smile.gif

Seems my 7420 score actually is the highest in this thread(?) even though my clocks are relatively low. Im excited to see how high the 1200+/1400+ OCs score with the new 12.11 beta. And to know whether the clocks can remain this high even with the significant 4% overall performance boost from said driver.

hi im wondering this a good card http://www.netplus.com.au/product/VDGIAT7850-05/Gigabyte_ATI_AMD_HD7850_OC_2Gb_GDDR5_Dual_DVI_HDMI_Radeon_GV-R785OC-2GD_7850

and wondering does this have any problems with it
post #59 of 501
When the Gigabyte cards first came out there was a lot of complaints about the fans making a clicking noise: Since Im no longer on the hunt for a new card I haven't read much since. Try and read some reviews @ Newegg etc.

Personally Im pretty happy with my MSI Twin Frozr III and the IV should be better. If I were to select another brand it seems like Sapphire do really well at keeping temperatures down. It is also my impression that they overall OC well, but of course thats a bit of a lottery (with any brand/model).
I didn't bother with Asus as I had decided to get the 7850 and I found it disappointing that they didn't even bother to make a cooler that fitted the card. If one can live with that they have a great reputation though (and as you can see in the image posted earlier on this page atleast one card did really well in test).

EDIT: Just did a 7850 search on the site you linked to. Personally I would pay the extra $11 and get the Sapphire.
