I have the Asrock Extreme4 Z77 ATX motherboard. My new MSI Radeon HD 7770 cannot be detected (system browser shows the PCIe slot as empty). Tried both pcie slots, same result.
Tried installing the video card in my mom's computer (250 W psu should handle a 80 W video card). Actually works, onboard video gets disabled, input from dvi cable directly from video card shows, computer boots up fine with stock 800x600 resolution, video actually shows up in device manager.
So the video card is fine. Must be the motherboard.
My computer runs fine surviving on my i5's HD 4000 graphics, no boot up/POST problems, overclocked i5-3570k to 4.6 GHz with upped voltage just fine. Everything's fine, except the video card is completely invisible.
I've heard resetting BIOS/CMOS worked, but I'm not sure if it works with new board like mine, and I didn't touch the Front Side Bus frequency when overclocking.
Any other problems I need to check for before concluding my motherboards pcie slots are defective?
