I believe the 680 is slightly faster but the 7970 is a little cheaper... though I haven't used either so can't comment on any driver/stability issues (cough ATI).

680 is faster at stock. If you want to OC, both should max out about the same, I think. IMO

You could go for HD 7950 OC. these cards overclock well. 1050 Mhz at stock volts. with sapphire trixx and a bit of voltage tweaking 1200 Mhz is possible. at same clocks HD 7950 is close to HD 7970 perf, maybe 5% slower.

7950 / 670 and 7970 / 680 really trade blows back and forth. Neither really is a true winner, unless you leave things all at stock, but we're not at stockclocks.net are we? tongue.gif

After overclocking the high end AMD and Nvidia cards are honestly about tied for performance. At bone stock, the Nvidia cards perform better simply because they're clocked higher from the get go. The AMD cards clock a LOT further from stock, so they catch up and sometimes beat the Nvidia cards.

Really, buy whichever card fits your budget and makes you happy. They're all good cards.
