Grounds for return?

Thread Starter
So about two months ago I got an Asus N55SL-S20112V.

About month of or so after I got it, it started giving me BSODS. Now to be clear, I haven't messed with the OS on it at all (Even though Asus' version of W7 is terrible). It happens at the login screen, putting the boot into an endless cycle of restarts sometimes. Quite often it will just randomly bluescreen when I'm doing anything, sitting on Skype or trying to watch a video on my Facebook feed.

I'm inclined to take it back to the store, but I'm just wondering if this is good enough grounds to return it? As getting it to replicate the problem in store won't be very easy. Unless windows keeps a BSOD log somewhere that I could show them?

Cheers,
Monstrous

Yes you can return it, but i take it John Lewis will either try to repair it or replace it first. Are you sure RAM isnt the culprit here?

take your ram out , try one stick at a time , see if you can get the Dump Files for the BSOD , theres a few members here than can help you read and figure out the cause.

It reported in the bluescreen that it was an nvidia exe causing the problems, so I'm inclined to believe it's the GPU at fault. It seems to happen a lot more often with an external display plugged in too, so there's another reason I think it's the GPU.

For the first month of owning it, there wasn't actually a driver available for Windows 7 for the 635m. And funnily, that's when it actually worked okay.

It also does some really strange stuff with the GPU, such as massive lag to an external display, so bad that VLC will refuse to play files even with a 1000ms cache for the video feed.

I would return it for a refund or for another model or for another its what you want , just it sounds like something went wrong when they decieded to use that GPU lol , to be honest it sounds like just a bad GPU in general , I have an Nvidia 520M in my Laptop , and i wish i would have payed the extra 50 for the 540 , it has to many problems.
